What happened to Leoda's? When we visited them last year (May 2022), everything we ordered was amazing. Currently (May/June 2023), they are having some obvious issues in the kitchen.
This year, nothing was amazing. Some items were just inedible.
They get 2 stars though, because the lady at the counter offered good service.
The Cobb Salad was disgusting. It looked absolutely nothing like the photo of Leoda's Cobb Salad on their Instagram page. See photo. The lettuce wasn't washed and was chopped up into huge sloppy pieces. My spouse actually had to spit the lettuce out, because it tasted dirty and gritty. They forgot the avocado. The hardboiled egg was overdone. We added grilled chicken, and it looked like someone just threw some chicken onto the grill cafeteria-style and chopped it up until it was browned and completely dry. The whole salad looked like someone just threw things in a box, and tasted just as careless.
The Fresh Fish Tuna Sandwich was also bad. The fish was off (there was a metallic aftertaste) and it was way over-salted with too much mayo. Very watery in consistency. Couldn't eat more than a couple bites.
The Avo-Cucumber Sandwich was a disappointment. We had ordered this last year and was blown away. It is actually a sandwich we thought of throughout the year and was excited to order again this year. Unfortunately, this year, they forgot to add the balsamic vinaigrette dressing to the sandwich, so we were basically eating unseasoned raw vegetables between two slices of bread. They also did not julienne the carrots as finely as last year. The carrots were so thick that they were distracting and difficult to chew. Even with these failings, the sandwich wasn't as bad as the Cobb Salad and Fresh Fish Tuna Sandwich, which says a lot.
The guava pie was mediocre. The pie shell was stale and extremely difficult to cut. We resorted to eating the filling first, then eating the remaining pie shell like a hand-held cookie. The filling was not flavorful enough. The colors were beautiful, but the filling was just lacking in guava flavor. The guava was too "nuanced."
The kids grilled cheese sandwich was the only decent item we ordered.
Wish we had better things to say this year. We probably won't return to Leoda's next year, but hope they fix whatever is going on in...

Having visited Maui over 35 times, I can’t believe I have never stopped here having driven by at least 100 times. And boy am I glad I finally did!
Welcome to Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop.
Tucked in right along the main coastal highway, in the Lahaina Area, this place is a hidden Gem!
They have loads of food offerings and amazing pies, fresh baked bread and even banana bread. There is a nice long table with stools for outdoor seating as well as a large number of tables for seating indoors.
We luckily landed in between waves of customers and were able to pop right up to the register without delay.
We were greeted by super friendly staff, ready to take our order and answer any questions we had.
At the ordering station you can clearly see into the clean kitchen, offering a nice glimpse of the delicious food they are preparing and staging to bring to the tables.
Today was pie day since we wanted to take something to go to enjoy while we were on the beach.
They have a wide variety of pies and even a no bake strawberry pie that another guest reported to us, was super delicious.
If you’re looking for a nice spot to enjoy a lunch or dinner, or just a sweet treat along your way around the island, I highly recommend a visit to Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop. I promise you won’t regret it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review and hope you have a lovely time on the island of Maui.
Mahalo and Happy...
Read more5 stars for the dessert pies and service, 4 stars for the dinner.
After getting multiple recommendations. This was our first stop for dinner in Maui. For dinner, the chicken and beef pot pies were tasty but had too much salt. My kids enjoyed the veggie pot pie and the baked mac & cheese.
The staff was super friendly. When we ordered dessert pies to-go with our dinner, they offered to keep the pies in the fridge while we ate. And they gladly explained the source of the delectable smell of roasted brussels sprouts that we couldn't find in the menu (it was in a meatloaf special which was sadly sold out).
The dessert pies were the standouts! We returned twice to try as many flavors as we could. (No pics cuz we ate them before I remembered to take pictures).
In order of our favorites (my family prefers less sweet) lilikoi (passion fruit) - slightly tart jelly with seeds, over a sweeter cream pineapple mac nut - I think they use canned pineapple, but it had a good blend of tart and sweet chocolate mac nut - strong choco flavor, but a bit too sweet, and topped with only small bits of mac nut banana cream - tasted as a good banana cream pie should olowalu lime - the lime is from their own garden. But it wasn't tart enough for our preference guava chiffon - good texture in the chiffon, but not enough guava flavor...
