McDonald's — Restaurant in Hawaii

I'm disregarding the obvious health and political draw-backs of McDonald's for the sake of this review. I will, however, penalize one star for the poor health quality of McDonald's food. As far as this McDonald's location is concerned, they have a regular friendly crew, plenty of in-door seating, a giant parking lot, are kept relatively clean for a McDonald's, and the drive-thru line is usually between 1-5 minutes. This McDonald's is one of only two drive-thru options I can think of south of Kona (and by FAR the faster drive-thru), and this is one of the very few places to get food that's open later than 8:pm making it an unfortunate popular stop on late night runs home. If you're visiting Hawaii, then, as with other Hawaiian McDonald's, you will be amused to find a few local items on the menu. A spam dish or two are common, as well as some variant of a local root or fruit pie. These items are generally pretty good, and worth exploring if you're unfamiliar with those food items and want an 'americanized'...

I live across the street from this place but I don't eat there much because what I like to eat there is not good for me, but it tastes so good lol. I'm not going to knock this place because its not McDonald's fault that people don't make the right personal decisions regarding their health. I can't blame them for the high prices either. It's what happens when your operation costs are too high. I retired after 35 years of having a successful business here because Hawaii's government was just to greedy for me to continue. I am tempted to respond to the ad for someone to open and close the place but I would have to make some changes because it bothers me to see 15 people working with only one cash register out of three in operation and a line of customers going...

My trip to Punalu'u Bake Shop, one of the islands "greatest food spots" destroyed my faith in the Hawaiian peoples ability to both feed people in a timely manner but also to deliver on taste. Of all my years visiting McDonald's I had no idea fry's could stay piping hot for longer then 1 minute. I had no idea that anyone could actually understand what I ment when I said I wanted "extra onions" and after time and time again of being forced to peel off the diseased pickles that seemed impossible to be left off my burgers. At last. Perfection. you have put the aloha back into my stomach and back into my heart with your amazing McHawaiian food. You have erased the scars of punalu'u yesterday.
