A busy Sunday night. I called in and ordered two french dip sandwiches and two orders of fried zucchini. With my permission a friend called and added his own meal to my order . I arrived to a very busy bar. Told bartender I'd like to pay for entire bill , but to not give me the third meal that had been added to my order. I was only going to pay for it. My friend was going to pick it up. I paid the bill . On the way home i snuck a french fry from one of the french dip boxes and was not happy to get a stale cold fry for my trouble. They should have been piping hot still. I was only a block away? So, I get all the way home and discover that not only are all of the fries cold and stale, but the Au Jus was missing from both to go boxes!! IT IS NOT A FRENCH DIP IF YOU CANT DIP IT?! RIGHT? while the french " no dip" sandwiches were good, they would have been way better had they had the AuJus for the dipping part of the French dip. As we ate our French sandwiches- not French dips- I noticed upon that the bartender had also forgotten to charge me for my friend's meal . so now my friend was going to be heading all the way to corner pocket from his house to pick up what he thought was a free dinner only to discover he would have to find the money to pay for it himself! I had called and tried to pay for it over the phone , but was told I could not . my choices were to drive all the way back to pay for his meal, or cancel my friend's order. On top of all of this the batter fried zucchini was nothing like it ever has been before. This time it was dripping with fryer oil. Just soggy with oil. It took all the napkins given to us in our take out bag to press out the excess oil from just two pieces of zucchini. The" french"- not french dip sandwich was great, even without the dip . But, everything else was a...
Read moreTaco Tuesday and boy was it busy. But we still got seated rite away and orders placed in a very short time period. Drinks were brought and for as busy as it was the food came out in decent to regular time. The Ono fish tacos were da bomb with rather large pieces of fresh caught local fish filling up the soft taco shells. Super yummy and the Hilo Brewing Co beer I ordered Volcano Red topped it off quite nicely. The very friendly wait staff checked with us frequently enough but not crowded and everything was very good and fine. It was a bit noisy and a bit boisterous but we had a small child who was laughing quite loud and he didn't bother anyone with his squealing and high pitched laugh. It's very good and worth it 2 adults and 1 kid we escaped with alcohol drinks and full bellies for $50 + tip. Not to dang bad if ya ask me. So hurry up and go on over to Korner Pocket for your next Taco Tuesday. Or any other day that you want. They also have other daily specials and they are all very tasty and very affordable for regular guests. Enjoy yourselves and relax with some good food friends and good times at Korner Pocket bar n grill....
Read moreWe have been getting dinner here about once a week sometimes more for years, over the last 6 months we have complained a handful of times about food that was so overcooked and not edible or their French fries are undercooked (we always order extra crispy because they are always undercooked). Tonight we got take out and again, overcooked some and some undercooked. We called and the husband owner pretty much dismissed us, so we brought the food back and asked for a refund, the wife owner came out and when we told her how her husband dismissed us, she dismissed us! đ they donât care, only game in SoKo. Hopefully someone who knows how to run a kitchen and actually cares about their customers opens something else here, it is needed. We donât complain unless the food is not edible, and a few times they asked if we wanted a discount and we said no, just better food. So we donât complain to get discounts! Eat at your own risk and never get take out, they bet on the fact that you wonât come back...
