Should have known that all the bad reviews were correct.

Hostess Stand: Upon approaching the stand, neither women acknowledged our presence for a solid minute. After we gave our name, it still took more time than needed to find our seat (which was reserved). This place was not packed at the time but I guess they needed to see if our waitress could handle another table.

Waitress: Her name was Cat (at least that’s what was on our receipt). I’d classify her as horrible, not because she spilled anything but she was slow to come to our table, slow to refill drinks, slow with getting a dessert menu and slow to cash us out. Here’s a tip: if you ask me if I want a dessert menu and you know it’ll be at least 5 minutes before coming back with it, perhaps having it printed and already on the table would be better.

Runner/Busser: this guy was quick, friendly and didn’t miss a beat. He needs to swap places with Cat so she can sort out her d’aversion to actually waiting tables.

Food: HORRIBLE, FLAVORLESS, BLAH. This place is not anywhere near worth the $200 we spent. For $38 I expect flavor on my plate and better service. The ahi tuna, not seared and absolutely no seasoning. Totally understood why they have huge bottles of salt and pepper on the tables now. I shouldn’t have to use any. Fresh catch of the day tasted more like fish left over from a couple days ago. The Maui onion soup was the only that was worth the price and had flavor.

Dessert: it took her so long to bring the menu we decided if dinner was tasteless garbage and the service sucked, we couldn’t have confidence in their desserts.

Wasted time and money but lesson learned. Go...

I'm not even sure what to say... evidently, "one is not allowed to swim during dinner" is some rule they have at the pool bar/kitchen, so we got scolded when my daughter decided to splash on the steps of the pool... but not when she was out there. No, they waited for her to come back to scold me in front of her. I couldn't help but point out that she was not swimming at that time... anyway, the tables were empty and the wait staff were obviously bored (chatting by the bar), and we were waiting to order and my 7-year old wasn't going to be making any decisions related to dinner, so certainly not holding them up from getting their next customer in...

Had they said something about the ridiculous rule when we walked in (or when my daughter was carrying her floaty and wearing her swimsuit when they took our drink order), I would probably have complied, but to wait until after she was out of the water, like it was intended only to embarrass, or maybe as a threat that they weren't going to serve us or something -- It was really awkward and unpleasant. I really wanted to leave but chickened out and stayed even though I had lost my appetite.

After that, things went better, the waitress got a towel for my kid to dry off, we finally got our food, my kid dropped one of the two small pieces of chicken on the ground and the waitress brought out a replacement nugget (no charge), and while I don't understand the local aversion to past participles, the "smoke [sic] meat jam" was a nice addition to the burger and the...

Very disappointed w the service here. We asked Tennessee- the hostess- to move tables because we were sat in the far back by the service door and there were plenty of other tables available. The hostess was extremely sassy and rude when asked. We were told that there were other reservations that would occupy those tables. We made a reservation in advance and this made us feel very unimportant as we were spending close to 1k a night to stay a the resort.

The first time the server greeted us (after 15 minutes of being seated at the 2nd table) all she said was “are you ready to order” did not even introduce herself or give any recommendations. Ordered nachos and they came with nacho cheese sauce!!! Not even real cheese. $19 nachos. Nacho Cheese sauce???!!! Ordered a steak medium rare and it came out to the table completely rare (purple). They sent it back a second time and it came out the exact same. Sent back a third time still not even cooked properly.

At the end, before the 4th entree came out(the salad we ordered after the steak was improperly cooked 3x) we tried ordering dessert and apparently the kitchen was closed. We had not been notified bc the server probably gave up.

Will not be dining here again. A shame that the only other dining option in the hotel is meridia which btw we spent $500 at last night. Conclusion is that if we are not spending half a grand at dinner we will not receive the service we thought we were getting when we booked here...

With the mixed reviews, I was a little apprehensive about eating here. I shouldn’t have been. Yes, it is a little pricy and it did take a couple of minutes for them to seat us, but it was well worth it. We were not staying at this property, and we wanted to see it anyway. Our server was gracious and gave us some very good recommendations. The view was amazing (the photo that includes the pool was from our seat; the beach photos were from about 20 feet away, on the other side of the pool deck). The coconut shrimp was a great start, and plenty for both of us. The barbecue ribs were so tender that the meat fell off the bone, and there was no need to hold the ribs with my fingers (or get BBQ sauce on them!). For dessert, the Tartufo was very good (and I had no idea what a Tartufo was before this). All in all, a great experience. We will definitely be back the next time we are on the Big Island.

It’s a resort restaurant so it’s going to be overpriced & food likely won’t live up to expectations. Definitely convenient next to the family pool & not much is around the resort (unless you drive at least 10 mins away). We stopped by for a quick snack. The loaded napunachos: big portion, but very ok. Normal nacho cheese sauce, seemed like canned refried beans, wholly guacamole type consistency guacamole, salsa, & sliced jalapeños. Side of sweet potato fries: tasted good, but did not come out hot which was disappointing. Overall, it’s convenient but there’s a lot better food outside of the resort for the money. Service was nice & prompt. PS- saw a review from 3 weeks ago that said there was a happy hour. When I asked about it the server said they don’t do that anymore.
