Jan 2024 update: came back again and wow so yummy! 😻😋 Matcha and mango shave ice + a couple taiyakis were the perfect snack. The anko taiyaki is 100% plant based as well! 2023: Went here with my family and all of the food was delicious, we can't wait to go back. A great Japanese food find on the Big Island! The staff in the food truck are so kind and friendly too. We got the vegan Japanese curry, katsu egg bowl, half chicken half pork fry bowl, tempura bowl, and a california roll...all of it was really, really good 😍🤩 I would 100% recommend the katsu egg bowl in particular, it had so much amazing sauce for the rice to pick up. Yum. The tempura bowl had a piece of fried shiso! I haven't been able to find shiso on the Big Island so it was really a treat. Really looking forward to coming back here on the weekend for the shave ice and taiyaki!! FYI this food truck is in the same lot as the Randy's huli huli chicken, just different days.

This is a family run business. They have real food at perhaps the friendliest prices on the West side of the Big Island. Their weekend-only available Taiyaki (Japanese crepe-like dessert filled with delicious fillings (choice of ube, red bean, custard or chocolate) and Shave Ice are DELICIOUS. The shave ice is only $5, I would hazard to say the best value on the west side, served with syrups that have real fruit (!). Their French fries are delightfully crispy on the outside and mashed potato like on the inside. Hand cut and so yummy. The pork katsu, tempura and fried chicken were all delicious! Aside from serving amazing homemade food, it is a true family run business, and what’s better than supporting local right?!? Order, eat, and enjoy the view from the picnic tables. You will be pleased! 🌺🤩🥰

Authentic Japanese food cart. Chef is from Osaka I believe. Their karaage (Japanese style fried chicken) was SO flavorful. Totally crave worthy. I had it as part of a bento with pork katsu added. They also serve taiyaki (filled waffle-like dessert in the shape of a fish) and kakigori (Japanese style shaved ice). They operate out of an orange food cart that can be spotted from the main road (Mamalahoa Hwy) where Randy's hulihuli chicken usually is. O'z is open on the days Randy's is not. Nice shady outdoor seating area is available and parking usually is not a problem. I plan to return many times to try other dishes like katsu curry and gyudon.

Amazing food truck. We missed Randy's Huli Huli but passed this place on our way to another restaurant - we decided to turn back and try it and I am so happy we did.

Unfortunately sold out of Yakisoba (which i was craving and made me want to turn around) but got the beef bowl and Pork/Egg plate - let me tell you, this is some real deal Japanese. I've eaten Japanese food all over and this is by far the best you can get, and out of a truck too!

The hostest/server was so sweet and kind, you could see she was happy to be there and be serving people. The food was amazing, compliments to the chef.

Definitely worth the stop for food! Never scoff at a roadside truck...
