First time here. Didn't even know this golf course existed. Typical club house restaurant/bar for Hawaii. Nothing bougie. Get indoor seating with AC and outdoor seating. We went for a high school graduation party. There is a main serving area inside and a smaller private room. The party took the whole venue. Didn't expect much in regards to food, especially it was buffet. the smells that was coming out the kitchen had that familiar bar food smell. Good bar food smell. But still expectation was low. Didn't help the pupu's (pre dinner appetizers) was just edamame and small gyozas. Little did we know that was just to ensure we didn't fill up before dinner. But let me tell you, appearance was definitely misleading. First off was the salad. On the surface it look like typical mixed greens with tomatoes and a soy based dressing. Nothing to write about. Next was plain white rice, again standard fare for Hawaii. Then a pan of garlic fried chicken thighs, them miso butter fish( black cod) and then grilled steak with side chimichurri. Loaded that up to. Went back to my table settled in and started digging in. Went for the salad first. First bite went as in, no fan fare. But bite 2, 3, 4, brah. It was little surprises popping up. Oh look avocado nice. Then a small chopped up cucumbers, even better. Wait what's this, pokè? There's pokè (raw tuna cubes) in the salad?? No way. Hence the soy based dressing with a little hint of wasabi. Crazy. Moved on to the proteins. Garlic chicken, as expected. Crispy fried pieces dressed with a sweet soy garlic sauce. Was good. Next was the miso butter fish, OMG that was very good. Though I wish it was broiled a bit to get a little char, it was damn good for golf course food. Then the steak. Now usually expectations of the steak wasn't high. But dude that sucker was perfectly cooked medium and it was soft and easy to eat. Not chewy like eating raw hide. It went down easy. Coupled with the chimichurri OMG. Tying everything together what is the perfectly cooked sticky rice. Bruh wasn't to wet, wasn't too dry. It was freaking perfect for a buffet line item. It was awesome. Our table was blown away. I'd says a step better than Kapolei and Hawaii Prince golf club house food....
Read moreHad lunch here with a bunch of friends today after our Sunday morning meeting - itâs been awhile since my last visit, so when a friend wanted to take me today, I was exited to try it again. Itâs been a long time since I had Chicken Katsu, so I decided to order that with all white rice instead of the Mac Salad. The Chicken Katsu was pretty thick and very very juicy. Two others in my group ordered the same, one with gravy, and they both loved theirs saying it was the best one they had. Other friends ordered the Cheeseburger, Fish Tacos, Cesar Salad and Portuguese Bean Soup, saying it was also very good. A friend shared her Artichoke Dip with us saying we just had to try it because the last time she came, her family ordered two. She was right! The Artichoke Dip was the best I had. Delicious! Highly recommend u order that. Another friend ordered the Cuban Sandwich saying it wasnât too bad, but there was a sauce on it that wasnât to her liking, but other than that, the service was absolutely amazing, our area was spacious and very clean, which made our gathering more enjoyable. Great meal with Great friends. Will definitely come...
Read moreFresh fish from Japan arrives on Thursdays and is usually sold out half way through the weekend. The restaurant is almost touched the Milani golf course green. Aside from sushi, your basic local dishes are served - Loco Moco, chicken karaage, kimchi fried rice, hamburger steak.... If your from the Island you already know. The ambiance is nothing fancy. Both inside and outside seating. It's nice in the evening here. The air is just so clean. I prefer the outside area. I tried the Uni, Otoro, Nodoguro, Shima Aji, Ikura, Hamachi (nice and fatty) Everything was amazing. The Nigi Toro Donburi a huge serving of fatty minced toro on brown rice. The serving was split into two. The picture is just my half. I usually stay away from places that have a large selection and variety of cooked foods and have a side selection of sushi but was impressed on the fish quality. The sushi could have been made much better with a different rice. The wasabi was freshly grated (not spicy at all) but they use your generic soy sauce you find at times market. I'm still giving 5 stars based on price and quality/cuts of fish. I will...
