A Guadalajara Gem: Tortas Ahogadas That Exceed Expectations at Rinkon Guadalajara
Don't let the cozy size of Rinkon Guadalajara fool you. I stopped by this charming little spot recently, drawn in by its inviting atmosphere, and walked away utterly blown away by their Tortas Ahogadas. This place isn't just good; it delivers an authentic Guadalajara experience that genuinely exceeded my expectations.
The star of the show? Undoubtedly the carnitas. These weren't just any carnitas; they were seasoned to absolute perfection. Each tender, succulent bite held a beautiful depth of flavor, enhanced by just the right hint of juicy fat – enough to make them incredibly rich and satisfying without being overwhelming. This is carnitas done right.
But the magic truly lies in the combination. That signature crunchy roll (birote tostado ) provided the perfect, sturdy foundation and delightful textural contrast. And oh, the savory consomé! The roll was generously swimming in it, soaking up all that incredible flavor without completely losing its essential crispness – the hallmark of a well-executed Torta Ahogada. The consomé itself was deeply flavorful, spicy, and aromatic, tying everything together.
The beauty of Rinkon Guadalajara is in the customization. My torta was perfectly set up for me to finish it off with their tangy pickled onions and a generous squeeze of fresh lime. These final touches cut through the richness, added brightness, and elevated the whole experience to pure bliss.
Verdict: Rinkon Guadalajara is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic, soul-satisfying Tortas Ahogadas. It perfectly balances rich, flavorful carnitas, a perfectly textured birote, and a deeply savory consomé, all within a warm and welcoming small-space setting. Don't hesitate – go experience this Guadalajara treasure! You'll be planning your next visit before you've even finished the last bite. Exceeded...
Read moreAfter a morning flight, we searched up “breakfast burrito” and Rinkon Guadalajara popped up. Since it’s a short drive from the airport, we decided to give it a shot. Their breakfast menu has some interesting takes on burritos, so my wife and I tried the Rinkon Burrito and the Tripon Burrito.
The Rinkon Burrito had a nice freshness to it with the nopales (cactus), which was a unique touch. Not gonna lie, though I was kind of looking for one of those unhealthy but savory burritos! Although the burritos didn’t blow my socks off, they were definitely good. I’d come back to try other items on the menu. The staff was friendly, which added to the experience.
We ate inside since they don’t offer outdoor seating, but the spot was incredibly warm not sure if they had an AC issue or if that’s how it is throughout the day, even though it was still early in the morning. Also, they don’t have restrooms available, so plan accordingly!
Overall, I’d give this spot a solid 3.5 stars. If the AC was working and there were bathrooms, they’d be...
Read moreI was delighted to find this place next door to the barbershop. It's a literal hole in the wall that's home to big flavor. I had a couple quesatacos and was given a third. I assume it was for the small wait but it didn't go unnoticed. I also had a carnitas quesadilla. I was sold on the concept and hooked after the first bite. The green and red salsas were excellent. The ingredients are quality; the food bursting with flavor. Great bang for the buck spot - my favorite. The staff was extremely pleasant. These little spots are the lifeblood of Los Angeles. There's no reason they shouldn't earn your repeat patronage with all the flavors at their ready....
