I've tried so so hard to like this place. The food is super good and the price is very reasonable, but it's only really good when you get what you ordered. The first time I had a real issue, I ordered a sashimi and sushi platter for like 25-30 bucks? I tried to order specifically the type of sushi and sashimi I would've liked on it, but instead of getting that, I got it on the side, as extra. Which could have been my fault for not being clear enough, but it upped my bill significantly and I had to pay for it. The second time I had an issue, I ordered the sashimi dinner. I assumed it went without saying that I wanted the bento box sashimi dinner, and I didn't know there was a different "sashimi dinner" on the menu. The value of the bento box was much better than the other one, anyhow. But after receiving my food, I tried getting the waitresses attention, but nothing worked so I had to get up and ask her to fix my order. She had been busy talking with her coworkers. Then she came back to the table a few minutes later, and said all she could do to fix my order was give me a free side of steamed rice. It was just really frustrating because apparently there wasn't anything else she could have done to fix the order. For the rest of the time we were there she didn't check up on me and my friend once, except to deliver the check. Not to mention we were the only other customers in...

One thing that we Americans tend to overlook is that Japanese restaurants often serve many of the same dishes we have come to love from Chinese and Thai restaurants. This is especially true when it comes to ramens and other noodle dishes, not to mention sushi. For that reason I chose Osaki Japanese for my evening meal not long ago when visited Hays.

I was happy to find it uncrowded that Friday night, not alarmingly empty so as to cause you to ponder your decision, nut rather in an assuring kind of way that this will be an enjoyable meal served in a timely fashion.

And I was right.

I ordered their Udon noodles with vegetables, a generous plateful of noodles as well as broccoli, green peppers, carrots and other veggies. It was the perfect amount, not so much as to necessitate a nap, and not so little as to leave me hungering for more.

The best part was that from the time I placed my order to when I was served my meal, only five minutes elapsed. That in itself is amazing, especially given that Friday nights can be rough on diners wanting to be fed without delay. It was superbly delicious, and I left any a shred of noodle as evidence that I had even been there. The hot green tea was the perfect quaff to wash it all down.

Yes, I would return! This...

I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. When the waitress brought out our order it was missing a roll. She acknowledged that a roll was missing and that it was being made. When we asked about it a few minutes later, she again said the chef was still working on it. She returned to our table and told us that we had received the roll. We reviewed our order with her and she again acknowledged we were missing an item. We could see two waitresses arguing with the chef. He insisted that our order was correct. The two waitresses returned to our table telling us that our order was complete. We went over the order again and they acknowledged that we were missing a roll and asked if we wanted it to go. We had them remove the roll from our order. The two waitresses tried to do the right thing, but the chef doesn’t know how to take care of customers and do the...

Good Japanese food in Kansas? YES! I stopped here on my way through Kansas. It was about five minutes off the highway and well worth venturing beyond the usual offerings that cluster near an interstate highway. I was excited about Japanese food, so I ordered a lot of food. Gyoza, Beef Negamaki, And Hibachi that came with onion soup and a salad. All was delicious. The gyoza were beautifully portioned and cooked perfectly to be on the edge of crispy on the outside, yet moist and flavorful throughout. The onion soup was great, too, with a nice nuanced set of flavors. The salad was fresh and crisp, with a Japanese dressing as you would expect. The Negamaki and Hibachi was all cooked to perfection and had great flavor. The scallions in the Negamaki were just slightly sweet, and the vegetables that accompanied the hHibachi were delightful.

Food was pretty good. I probably won't come here again, and I won't be ordering the fried ice-cream. Sushi was okay. Not my favorite, but it was fresh. Service was good and drinks were refilled quickly. Entrance is a little confusing and bathrooms were HORRIBLE. Didn't seem like the front desk or entrance area matched the serving area. The tables were nice and everything felt very fancy and professional, but the entrance is trashy and looks like a Chinese take out place. The front desk is unorganized and unprofessional. I am always picky about where I order raw meat and I felt confident in this place at first, but then I went to the bathroom and was concerned. If this is how they keep the bathroom, I'd hate to see their kitchen area.
