Gutierrez Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Hays

Went to have a graduation get together for my family and friends after graduation that I had arranged back in January. I don't know if it was a manager or owner, but the lady who took us into the room had a bad and sour attitude as soon as we walked in the door or before we even spoke a word. Yes, there was not going to be as many people in my party that I had booked for back in JANUARY, but that's because you can't predict what people are going to do 5 months ahead of time. Personally I think that would have made things easier for them and allowed them to be able to sit more people. Anyway, I went in the night before to look at the space and tables I was going to have the next day, and I was completely okay with the set up. Walked in on the day of graduation and it was completely different tables and one less table. Plus they were upset that I brought in a cake because, "they're a business and not entertainment." They wouldn't give me one small little table to put my cake on along with enough places to sit my 12 guests. We were planning on eating lunch there and everything....but after this lady's absolutely horrible attitude and greeting I walked out and took my party else where. I would say it was one of the best choices I have ever made and am so glad it worked out the way it did because the restaurant we ended up at had wonderful food...

We ordered adult drinks and entre at the same time...were served chips and salsa but still no water before our drinks. Our entres came out before our drinks. Finally drinks came out. Half way through finishing our plate, our waitress brought us our bill. I asked what if I wanted another drink, she said she would get me another bill. We did order another drink and got another bill. Another waitress asked to if we needed anything moved off our table that we weren’t using anymore and we said no. At this point it felt like they were rushimg us out. We left a tip on table and went up to pay. Our waitress was right there to take our money. Our bill was something like $41.31 my wife handed her a $60. She gave us back our dollars and said, “would you like your $.69 cents...uhh how do you answer that...we just left a tip at the table she might as well have asked “can I have your $.69...

Lot's of places to eat in Hayes, we like Mexican, so we went to Gutierrez Mexican Restaurant. It was getting near closing on a Thursday night, but we got seated right away and they took our orders. Lots of atmosphere, but a bit dark. That 32 oz lime Margarita was so good. We got served after a bit. My wife order the Chicken quesadilla and I ordered the Sancho Grande. The Sancho Grande seemed to be a seasoned beef filled burrito smothered with red chile w/beef. Yes! PINTOS beans. Who likes black beans. The beef chile was almost hot enough, but very well seasoned...
