Cute little family run Mexican restaurant in downtown Hayward. Decided to try this place out when we saw the $30 worth of food for $15 deal on Yelp and were driving through town. This is an awesome deal!! You order your food and drinks at the counter and then there are lots of tables to sit at and they bring the food out to you. We had 2 fajita combos and a chips and guac for $15 with the current deal. You can choose between chicken, steak, or shrimp (extra charge) for the fajitas and they came with sauteed veggies, lettuce, guac, sour cream, rice, refried beans, cheese, and 4 corn or flour tortillas. 2 of us shared 1 of the fajita combos and it was plenty of food if you don't want any leftovers. The chips and guac were amazing. The chips came out fresh and warm and the guac was homeade with chunks of avocado in it. Would come back just for that! The food came out very fast and hot. They are also open for breakfast. The only thing I didn't like was the waste we produced because it all came out on styrofoam plates, bowls, and plastic bottles and silverware. I would definitely stop here again on our way through...
Read moreI tried this restaurant based on google reviews when I was visiting from out of state and I don’t have one single regret. I could of easily ordered multiple times in the couple days I was in Hayward because it’s that good. I’m actually upset there isn’t a Mexican restaurant like this closer to my hometown. The burritos are huge and absolutely delicious. I was only able to eat half but even the next day as leftovers it was still good. We also tried the chips and dip combo with salsa, queso, and guac. Absolutely amazing. The chips were so fresh and not overdone and the queso was easily one of the best I’ve ever had. It didn’t turn into a white plastic looking block like most do after cooling down. We also decided to order an ala carte cheese and onion enchilada and that was super good as well. The service was super fast too. Ordered and arrived less than ten minutes later and it was already waiting for me. The staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable....
Read moreThis review has nothing to do with their food. At least almost nothing. We arrived downtown around 1:00PM, regrettably, for reasons made clear shortly, having just eaten. While my wife and I were unloading our 4 young children from the car in the rain my daughter slipped on the curb and began to sob. As I picked her up and began to console her, a gentleman came out of Main Street Tacos asking if she was alright. After I confirmed she was, he handed my daughter a slice of pie saying he was the owner of MST and, seeing the accident, he hoped it would cheer her up. It was a beautiful act of kindness that will not soon be forgotten. If our bellies hadn’t already been full, you can obviously guess where lunch would have been that day, but rest assured Main Street Taco will be receiving our patronage in the future. Support this business and its owners. They’re good people who...
