Gems House of Bagels — Restaurant in Hazlet Township

I had a really disappointing experience with this place. When I called to place my order, the person on the phone was extremely rude and rushed me off, barely letting me speak. It felt like I was being a bother just for trying to order breakfast.

To make matters worse, when my mother went to pick up the food, she was treated even more disrespectfully. She was yelled at to close the deli refrigerator door—apparently it was broken, but she didn’t know—and instead of being understanding, they laughed at her in a mean-spirited, conniving way. That’s completely unacceptable behavior toward any customer, especially someone just picking up food.

Today is the last time I will be getting food at Gem's. It has become a regular occurrence to visit the store a be told they do not have the items to make what I wanted to order, standard items described on the menu. Add in the escalation of prices for what Gem's is serving and this place is not worth as there are many other superior bagel shops in the area.

One last comment, buyer beware at this store. They have removed all prices from the menu boards in the store and from their printed menu. It now states on the menu "Hours & Prices Vary By Location Subject to Change" No Thanks Gem's, if I want to play pricing roulette I will take a ride down to...

Great breakfast, great lunch. Not stingy on anything. Seriously all the food is great. The girls behind the counter work their butt off and rarely make a error. I had 1 mistake in the time I've been going there. I went back 30 min later no questions asked immediately remade my food. I would have given 5 stars except for one thing.
