I am pretty disappointed with Wicked Slice. Being local to the area, I tried them when they first opened. I ran into an issue when they first opened when they were advertising grinders, but preparing these "grinders" on flat artisan bread without telling customers. After calling to complain that my chicken parm "grinder" was merely a sandwich, I was told by the owner that they couldn't "legally sell subs" because they shared a plaza with Subway. After getting over that bizarre mix up, I evaluated the food for what it was. To be honest, it was just mediocre at best. And, to top it off as stated before, a "grinder" was served on a piece of flat bread.
So, I didn't go back for several months until the other day I decided to give them another shot. I decided to try a chicken parm sandwich (now the menu name has changed to reflect what the item actually is), a medium pizza, and some wings. And honestly, I don't think I'll ever return. The food was once again mediocre at best. The prices are a bit steep in my opinion for the quality of the food. The chicken on the chicken parm was a skimpy flat piece of dehydrated cutlet covered in tasteless sauce, stuffed between way too much "artisan" bread. The wings were also skimpy and overpriced compared to competitors wings. The pizza was dripping oil, so much so that it saturated the box underneath. This pizza was certainly not worth the almost $20 price tag for a medium. Honestly, there are some better options in Colchester if you like this sort of food. Sadly, no one in this area seems to know what good food is. I guess I am just spoiled that I come from the New Haven area. But, now that I live out here I guess we're just stuck with meh options with ridiculously high price tags. I will not be returning here and it is a shame, because I do like...
Read moreWe like their pizza, wings, and salads. Unfortunately the last three delivery orders have been incomplete so tonight I stopped the driver before he left to let him know what we were missing. He asked if I wanted him to bring the rest of the order (really?), I said yes, and he never came back (even though I tipped him on the incomplete order). I eventually called and the manager was nice enough, but it seems like an ongoing issue they haven't been able to solve. We were so excited to have a delivery place nearby with good food but I'd suggest you keep your expectations low. We always use online ordering but if you call in person you may have a better chance of getting everything you order since the last three times we were missing something we were eventually told it didn't come because they were "out of it." I'll definitely be hesitant to...
Read moreIs there a character count on Google reviews because I feel like I could easily hit it describing how much I love Wicked Slice in Hebron. First, the pizza is delicious. We have a LOT of hit or miss options for food in town but WS is not one of them. The pizza is consistent, they are always coming up with fun toppings (most which are out of my comfort zone but I appreciate the ingenuity) and the price is reasonable. Mike is a genuinely nice human who believes in supporting the community, we really couldn't ask for a better guy to run a restaurant in town. I highly recommend you give this pizza a try if you haven't already. PS If you click the phone number off of the Google listing, sometimes it says 'this wireless customer is not available' on busy nights... dial the phone number off the website by hand into your phone and it...
