Very disappointed in my recent visit. I was a dedicated patron for over 4 years. My wife and I would typically order from this restaurant once a week and in some instances twice a week. I truly believe in supporting local businesses. I recently put an order in (for take out) and unfortunately the order I gave was misunderstood. I picked up the order on a Thursday night, not realizing it was not what I ordered, and headed to the Cape to our rental for a few days. Once there, we sat down to eat and noticed the order was incorrect. At that point it was 10:30 PM and when we called there was no answer. We saved the food, went without dinner (as everything was closed) and figured we would connect when we returned to CT. On Saturday, I walked into the restaurant, gave them our uneaten food, and explained what happened and fully expected the owner would understand, tell us “no worries you are good customers”, and get us a replacement order. Mind you I have ordered from this restaurant for 4 years, spoke with one of the owners (the women owner), congratulated her on dealing with covid closures, etc. and wished her all the best and my continued support. As I explained the situation to her, she looked at me like she didn’t know me. Basically said there was nothing she could do, especially since I ordered on Thursday night and it was Saturday afternoon. I explained again that we were away, bought the dinner to have at the Cape, etc. She was literally insinuating that I was lying. We are talking about a $12 dinner. Obviously they don’t know how to treat their customers. I left the food on the counter and left the restaurant, honestly bewildered as to her attitude. 10 minutes later her husband (I believe) called me. I explained the situation to him and how I was mistreated. No apology- basically an offer to give me 2 vegetable spring rolls when I come back again and order. I am a business man, and a faithful customer, but I have never been treated like this before nor would I treat anyone like this. The right thing to do for your customers is make things right. It’s not the $12 that upsets me, but the lack of trust (that they didn’t believe I said one thing and was misheard and given another order) and that as a faithful customer they couldn’t do right by me and remake my order. Again, $12 we are talking about here for food I didn’t eat. I am a person of principle and although I liked their food, it’s that attitude and treatment that will make me take my business elsewhere, to another establishment that believes and does right by...
Read moreWithout a doubt my favorite restaurant in the area. The food is incredible, the service is always top notch and the atmosphere is quiet, comfortable and clean. I started only coming here the past few months and I regret not coming sooner.
I am a fan of the Lo mein, the Mongolian beef and especially the Chicken Rice Soup. Unfortunately I have never had the time to sit down and eat at the location, and have always received take out. However, whenever I go the young guy behind the counter always seems to know my name only after a few visits and it is a really great and kind atmosphere. It is never loud and bright inside. A very relaxed atmosphere.
The prices are more than generous for what you get in return as the portions can sometimes last me 2 days for just 1 person. I recommend leaving a nice tip, even if you get take out. Having a hot delicious meal in 15 minutes (sometimes even ready sooner) is not an easy task and that is what I consider above and beyond. So please leave these owners a good tip when you go!
I hope this restaurant stays in the area a long time and I absolutely will continue to give my support. In fact I think I am going to order another soup right now....
Read moreI called ahead asking if there were gluten free options. They stated that they did, but when I got home with the food, it was not gluten free. When I called back, they said most people don't care that there is gluten and shared in the same fryer. I stated this is a medical condition and I called ahead specifically asking this. Ended up having to throw up the food so I wouldn't get sick. Would definitely not recommend for people that can't have gluten.
**In response to your response, I was NOT told they were not gluten free (fried in contaminated oil) until AFTER I already got home. Then you wanted me to drive back for your mistake.
Again it's not that I "didn't like the food," as I repeated numerous times, this is a medical condition, NOT a diet preference. I do not care if people with a diet preference don't get sick. I don't know why you keep saying that. People with celiac disease or a gluten allergy WILL get sick. You need to take it seriously and inform folks BEFORE they order when they call ahead that there is cross contamination. Not that "most people don't care."
Again, I do not recommend to people that cannot eat gluten as there is 100% cross...
