I'm a local in this area. I love mexican food.. I've had several unfortunate incidents there.. while my general experience has been mostly positive, it's unfortunate to say that the negative have outweighed that and I will not be going to this location again, but rather Don Tortaco or Roberto's next time.
First let me start with the customer service. It's quite odd. Just last night I walked in, the female cashier is speaking in spanish with a customer, very friendly and having a good time, laughing. Good to see that nice customer to sales associate interaction. It's my turn. I happily walk up to the lady at the register with a nice, "Hey, how're you doing tonight?!", (I'm a caucasian male who does not know a single lick of spanish past 'Gracias', but understands good manners and respect). "
without any greeting from her, no eye contact whatsoever, ".. Can I help you?", as if my patronage is suddenly a burden. I thought about walking away right then and there because of the lack of good connection.. I am very thrown off. Despite my feelings of this, I continue and order my regular, a bacon breakfast burrito.
I am responded to by a sudden and emotionless, "four dollars.", while eye contact is now kept at a minimum on her side of the deal. This is when I really REALLY considered just leaving. I was astounded by this lady's rudeness and almost hostile feelings towards me. I tip just about every time, and I'm always very friendly to anyone regardless of their interaction towards me.. I think maybe she's having a bad day? I mean, I've had this lady (although, typically in a rather emotionless and slightly angered manner most of the time) take my order for several visits at this point but have never seen her like this. So it was a thought of, "hmm. I don't trust this place too much anymore.." But again, disregarded, excited to bite into my burrito.
So that was my customer service experience. You could hardly say there was one.
My final blow is the moderate level of sickness I have experienced not only once, but TWICE from eating here, and that last time was last night. Even now, over 24 hours after eating, I still feel a knot in my stomach. I don't understand.. How did they make this food? Why was I so sick from it? Perhaps this is just a me thing, I haven't heard of anyone else getting sick from eating here.. But maybe I'm wrong? I'm not sure. But it was NOT fun and I wish I had spent my money elsewhere. Perhaps my small experience cannot define the overall experience and service and I would recommend for others to decide based on their own experiences.. But I feel bothered by THESE experiences and will not...
Read moreWe tried Fausto's because we were in the neighborhood and the reviews were great. We were sorely disappointed beginning with not being greeted at the counter. The order taker was pointedly rude and would not even make I contact. We asked for a cup of tapwater and we were told that they only have bottled water, yet when we went to the Coke machine we saw that they do have a dispenser for water.
The food we ate was average at best. The beans were extremely bland and had the texture of baby food. The tortillas were great. The salsa was okay but did not have any real flavor.
As we were leaving we mentioned to the man at the register that the Coke machine does dispense water. I suggested that maybe they could offer a cup for sale to future customers. The man behind the register was very gruff and put out and said "we don't do that." I got the impression that he was a hateful person. Perhaps we weren't the right color to be in their establishment. As I was speaking to him he turned his back to me as if to ignore me. As I was leaving he said something under his breath to me. Obviously something more intended for his coworkers to hear as in an insult or something. I asked him to repeat himself and he ignored me. I bet karma has something terrible in store for him.
Needless to say we won't be returning to Fausto's. I would not recommend it to anyone especially if you don't happen to be of Latin descent. You will likely get a cool reception and be disappointed with the average quality. Good food can make up for average service, but average food will never make up for poor service. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for a...
Read moreMy son is serving a mission for our church in Henderson, NV, and raves about how much they all love Fausto’s. I reached out to Fausto’s to see if they sold gift cards and had the most amazing conversation with Efren. Not only does Fausto’s make incredible food (my son’s recommendation), but they are amazing human beings. My wife and I will be in Las Vegas soon, and Fausto’s (and meeting Efren) is now #1 on our list. Funny story, after I spoke with Efren, I went out and asked the secretary where we work, here in Idaho, where her favorite Mexican food is in Henderson, Nevada (she is from Henderson). Without hesitation, she said “Fausto’s!” And then told me everything about it. I didn’t lead her at all to say that either, I was just curious if she would say Fausto’s. Thank you Fausto’s and Efren for being amazing human beings who make amazing food. You increase my faith in humanity. ...
