Golden Skillet — Restaurant in Henderson

Today was not a good day for Golden Skillet. Hubby and I love their food but service was ridiculous today. I'm not sure if they had a new crew or new equipment, but tickets were getting lost and orders were being neglected. After waiting in the overflow park for 30 minutes, hubby went inside to check on our order. Being that they serve nothing that takes 30 minutes to prepare we were very concerned. Shortly after his return the cashier came out stating she didn't know we were in the drive thru and asked for the receipt. Really? A few minutes later I go inside to discover our ticket had been lost, so of course nothing from our order was being prepared. The cashier stated that had been happening all day. Refund was given and we hit the road jack. I hope they get it together soon because hubby and I are loyal customers. Service I'd extremely slow, poor customer service. Sometimes customers realize they need to add another item to their order while at the window. NOT THERE. They absolutely will not! ONE TIME I WAS THE ONLY CAR IN THE DRIVE THRU AND ASKED IF I COULD ADD A SLICE OF CAKE. THE SHORT HEAVY-SET LADY THAT HAS WORKED THERE FOR YEARS; TOLD ME I HAD TO DRIVE BACK AROUND IN ORDER AT THE SPEAKER. I TOLD HER NOONE ELSE WAS IN LINE BEHIND ME, AND I WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE OUT INTO THE STREET TO REENTER. SHE BLUNTLY LOOKED AT ME, AND SAID YES. I GRACEFULLY SMILED AND SAID OKAY. AFTER GOING BACK AROUND AND ORDERING A SLICE OF CAKE; SHE TOLD ME I HAD TO PULL UP AND WAIT. MIND YOU THE CAKES ARE SITTING ON THE COUNTER. SHE BROUGHT IT OUT 10 MINUTES LATER. THROUGHOUT THIS EXPERIENCE, IT WAS SO EVIDENT THAT THE LADY WAS WAITING FOR ME TO RESPOND WITH ANGER OR DISRESPECT BUT I WAS DETERMINED TO LET THE LORD USE ME TO SHOW HER WHAT...

If you want to bypass the fast food locations the Golden Skillet has a huge menu that is made-to-order homemade cooking. They have so many food options. And the price is reasonable. I must confess that the fried gizzard is the best in the state of North Carolina. They have melt-in-your-mouth super tender gizzards that you will not find anywhere else. Most of the food that is offered here you will find at a sit-down restaurant versus a fast food location. I also was amazed at how golden brown and tasty the pork chops were made. The menu is very detailed with their prices.

The workers are all nice, attentive and friendly. The dining area is very fresh and clean with great window lighting. This place may look a little old-fashioned but the quality of the service and the food options are delightful.
