We recently moved to Hermosa Beach, CA, and within just a few weeks, Gitana Café, only a short walk from our home, has become our favorite weekend spot.
We have a 16-month-old daughter, and this place is incredibly kid-friendly. Itâs also a go-to hangout for local runners, giving it a vibrant, welcoming community vibe. The pastries are phenomenal, and the breakfast burrito is an absolute must.
As a Colombian nativeđšđŽ, I know a thing or two about coffee, and while many cafĂ©s offer a similar product, Gitana truly stands out for its warmth, authenticity, and heart. Freddy, Fernanda, and the entire team make you feel genuinely special. Thereâs always a story, a friendly face, and a sincere sense of connection every time you visit.
My girlfriend fell in love with their hats (we ended up taking home three!). Whether youâre a local or just visiting, youâve got to stop by Gitana. Itâs more than a cafĂ©, itâs...
Read moreHad a delicious turmeric smoothie with Oat milk on my first visit. There were 2 lovely and friendly ladies working there. I returned the next day to order the same thing and was disappointed when there were 2 young men working instead. He remade my drink but told me in an unfriendly tone, to wait outside while he remade it. It didnât taste as good as the day before. When I stopped by the following day and saw it was the same 2 guys working, I didnât bother going in.
If I had reviewed this spot based on my visit with the ladies it would have been all 5 stars. The young man working the cash register needs an attitude adjustment or should...

I think Iâve been to all the cafes in the South Bay. Living in Hermosa, this one is by far my favorite. Itâs a unique coffee shop that doesnât have a modern, clean aesthetic. Instead, it feels vintage and full of personality. It reminds me more of the cafes I visited in South America (the owners, I believe, are Colombian).
Itâs got nice outdoor seating that, despite being on Hermosa Ave, is still really nice to sit in and enjoy their delicious ricotta cake, arepa with cheese and their dirty taro latte.
Thereâs also a cute little couch upstairs to hang out on and enjoy the vives. The coffee is obviously delicious, but so is the chai, which is tough to find around here.
I havenât tried all the baked goods, but you can be damn sure I will. Also, theyâre...
