My wife is pregnant and was craving pizza, and I suggested we try this place out. I grew up in the neighborhood but had never tried it before. I like supporting local family-owned business, so it seemed like a promising choice.
We have a two-year old and he joined us. Unlike other parents we know, we don’t give him iPads or anything. He was on great behavior for a toddler - not running around and screaming, but sitting calmly at the table and playing with his toy car.
The kid did get a little antsy waiting for the pizza and started to touch a sign that was in the window. Before we know it the proprietor starts yelling at our kid to leave it alone. We were in shock and thought it was an act, but he kept it up.
After dinner, our son touched the sign again, and once again the guy goes off, yelling that we should control our kid.
I understand the business owner. He doesn’t want his property to be damaged, and maybe he doesn’t like kids. But surely there’s a more diplomatic way of dealing with the situation?
I’ve been to establishments that know how to treat their guests with kindness. They might offer a child seat, or a kid’s menu and crayons, or just smile and goof around with the kid. But not at Brooklyn Pizza.
My son loves pizza, and we could’ve become regular customers here, but now he’s afraid of the guy behind the...
Read moreOMG ... I'm a native New Yorker who has not had decent Pizza the entire time I've lived in the South Bay more than 6 plus years.... I keep driving past saying going I'll try it one day. Well I had a friend visiting so tonight was the evening to try it. The pizza is absolutely amazing it is not inexpensive but could easily be shared between two people. Will do that next time... For now I have leftovers..... They do have gluten-free crust and the pizza is low carb which is nice as they make their own crust... In fact most of the ingredients on the pizza Bob the owner makes himself including the sausage and the turkey sausage. There are also vegan and vegetarian options. The cannoli is homemade and amazing. Looked at the rest of the menu and the sandwich and pasta selection looks great and is reasonably priced. They also offer a next door neighbor discount. Highly recommend.... There's a reason they have been there 30 years and survives the covid pandemic. Looking forward to the restaurant opening for indoor dining. They have vintage arcade games..... At the moment they are mostly takeout but should be putting a tent up soon for...
Read moreInside reminds me of Brooklyn NY. And before this review. People do need to understand pizza in Manhattan and pizza in Brooklyn are very different. "NY PIZZA" isn't just one part of NY.
Let's get into it.
Upon walking in I was greeted immediately. Asked what they recommend. They said the cheese or pepperoni. I ordered a whole cheese and pepperoni pizza with extra marinara. Pizza was done in a very timely manner.
I sat inside to wait and just chilled. Had not a single issue.
My order was 100% correct. Price wasn't too bad either.
So why the 3 and not a 4 or 5? Dough tasted a bit off. The crust just wasn't tasting 100% too me. Compared to places I've been to IN NY. The cheese and marinara on the other hand? Perfect. Tastes exactly like NY. I will definitely return here and give it another go with other menu items. And maybe upgrade my star rating. I like that it's privately owned and operated. I do love to support local owned businesses any time I get the chance.
Cleanliness: very clean Staff: no issues Decor: old style Brooklyn NY Food: definitely better then dominos etc lol Bathrooms: N/A...
