I ordered a cortadito, and I’ve had some great cortaditos throughout MDC. They even have a “ventanita”, which is usually a sign of a good Cuban coffee shop. They made the cortadito with old espresso (probably leftover from a colada they made 5 minutes before) and the milk was not frothed (no Espuma). Neither the espresso machine nor the milk frother was used - just served me old leftover coffee and milk. Que pena para ellos. Too much sugar too, probably because the espresso from the colada already had a lot of sugar and then they added even more for my cortadito. I even said “not too much sugar”. I make much better cortaditos at home. Big disappointment. I may not be Cuban, but I know a good cortadito. Waitress didn’t seem overly thrilled to be working there either. Also, this is the third time in a year that I have gone to Mi Abuelita’s Kitchen and the previous two times were also mediocre. Did not leave reviews previously because maybe it was a one-off bad day, but that’s three consecutive bad experiences. Keepin’ it real,...
Read moreWe visited this establishment for breakfast around 10:45 am. There were 2 waitresses to serve around 12 people at the time we arrived. We ordered 2 small Cuban sandwiches ($7.50 each). And what a disappointment we were when we received our order, which took about half an hour to arrive, but the waitress told us that they had only made 1 sandwich instead of 2... and it seems that they were short on pork because I didn't even have 1 ounce of pork.....Technically I bought a Ham and Swiss Cheese Sandwich, mayonnaise, and mustard. The best was the orange juice and the colada. In addition, customer service has to be greatly improved since there were people who were waiting to order and many of them left without orders like a girl who sat at the bar got tired of waiting for the waitresses and only ordered a soda and left . At least they should acknowledge customers with a Good Morning, I'll be taking your order right away in a...
Read moreThis place unfortunately lacks professional customer service, every waiter is yelling and running around like its a crazy house.
The food lacks salt or some may say “taste” its apparently a cuban restaurant, me being cuban myself i can safely say that my cuban parents or cuban abuela or any cuban family member most definitely cooks better than this place. I had a salmon plate with white rice and mash potatoes, the salman was raw in the middle, sent it back and it seems as if they just smacked it back on the grill and burned it till all the juices and basically what makes a salmon good was all gone.
The 2 stars are for effort of making the place look modern and clean, they do indeed try to make the plates fancy, but if the food is bad then what is the point of opening up a restaurant. Sorry but i won’t be...
