Went for high chocolate. Based on all their social media, pushing thought it would be more like a high tea service. It is not! Highly recommend against going for this experience.
A giant cup drinking chocolate it’s too much and too sweet for any average person to consume entirely. But does look good on social media. Only three savory items to try and balance how much sweet you drink, all of which felt like they came out of a premade package or freezer/fridge from the morning prep.
Then there were the service issues, we were seated immediately and then waited 15 minutes before we had water and about 25 before a waiter came to explain the menu to us. As frequenters of high tea service throughout Europe, the menu seemed to completely out of place. As mentioned above the social media expectation was that this was a “Utah” version of high tea with one flat charge for the whole experience. Instead it’s a separate charge for each cup of chocolate, with the option of picking 3 savory items for two people plus 4 individual sweet items, or just one or two of each sweet item. This is regardless of the size of your party.
Additionally, the food items they chose to serve did nothing to enhance the experience. I would have imagined the chefs had worked together to pair the food items with the amount of chocolate that was served. However, it felt more like they were doing this for social media then for an actual elevated experience.
After ordering it took them a solid 25 to 30 minutes to bring out our chocolate and savory/sweet items. Which was extra disappointing, considering none of them were hot or freshly baked.
The space they chose to serve this in leaves, many guests eating off of side tables which become overly cluttered and awkward when filled with any number of food items beyond the 8 inch plate they give you to eat those items. Not to mention the seating options they chose are more lounge style seating. Therefore you have to sit on the edge of your seat to be able to reach the table.
Nothing that was brought to our table was...
Read moreI booked a valentine dinner on a Friday night. I was doubtful about booking this restaurant after reading reviews on Google & Reddit but I decided to give it a shot since we stayed in GH over the weekends for skiing. It was a terrible decision. We arrived promptly at 8PM noticing we were possibly the last wave of patrons for the night. We were seated and waited around 20 min until a server walked by feeling sorry that we haven’t been helped. That’s fine, we were seated at the corner so it was hard to see us? Then we quickly put in our orders and had to ask a drink menu as we never got a drink menu. That’s fine. We waited for entree at the time about to hit a one hour mark, our waitress came by and noticed our salad still hadn’t arrived to our table. She went ahead to check our order and we got our first dish within five mins. Did she forget to put in our orders? Then my bf had to keep checking our orders because another 30min had gone by and no words about our food. Another entree (arrived cold) along with another main dish finally arrived. At this point, we were pretty upset as there were no communications and apology. We felt we were neglected the entire night. And more so, I felt really bad as this was our Valentine dinner. I wouldn’t had expected to receive such poor services inside a nice resort hotel. Overall, despite the poor services, we both agree food was very good and well-presented so 2 stars just...
Read moreMy sister and I made reservations for the High Chocolate menu. Please read before spending your money! The ambiance of the seating area was lovely—right by the fireplace with a live pianist playing next to us. However, the seating itself was quite awkward: two tiny round tables pushed together and oversized lounge chairs that were more suited for relaxing than eating or drinking. It just wasn’t comfortable for dining.
The menu was limited but nicely curated. We ordered the hot chocolate and received a two-tier tray of desserts. The hot chocolate presentation was a fun touch—they melted cotton candy in the cup as they poured the chocolate. The flavor was great, very rich—so rich, in fact, that you really can’t drink much of it. We were glad to try it, but a small portion was more than enough.
Unfortunately, the desserts were extremely disappointing. The cookies and other items didn’t taste fresh—more like they had been pre-made and frozen (dried out, hard, blah!) None of them were very good; we took a bite of each, but nothing was finished. Simply terrible. Looks like another reviewer said the same thing two months ago.
For nearly $100, we left feeling pretty disappointed in the food and wouldn’t recommend or return. The concept is great, and the presentation was spot on, but the food needs to be fresh, warm, have flavor, and truly special to match...
