From valet parking, to quiet but amiable ambiance, to incredible service, luscious, delectable meals and desserts, to panoramic vistas…Latitudes-DelRay Resorts is THE place to go for the best Savoir Faire in dining experiences.
My friends and I seldom get together to go out…but when we do…we certainly DO IT RIGHT! We had a reservation, were seated quickly and at a lovely corner table with the most spectacular view. Our server KP was knowledgeable, kindly, with good humour and he took great pains to answer our questions, take our orders, serve us promptly and make certain we were enjoying ourselves. My companions ordered drinks while I just “taste-tested” like any good friend would do! (Somebody’s got to do it!) We then enjoyed Market Oysters, Thai Shrimp Summer Rolls and Grilled Octopus before consuming the most delectable variety of main dishes. Lobster Roll, Latitudes IPA-Battered Fish and Chips, and other items were perfectly framed on every plate, making a picture that surpasses the imagination.
The professional pics are EXACTLY what you are presented with, but there is no way to properly convey the smell, flavour and silky mouth feel of every delicious bite. And we did savor EVERY BITE! I’m ashamed to admit…we were all so hungry, not one of us thought to take pictures of our plates…that’s how mouthwatering everything looked and smelled.
The only reason I gave 4 stars out of 5 were for an air conditioner that thought Murphy’s Law should apply…and decided not to be fully operational. It gave all new meaning to the “warmth” of this fine dining establishment. The other reason was that they ran out of Peanut Butter Cookies! (You had to be with us at dessert time to fully appreciate that! LOL!). No matter; we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly despite those infinitesimal issues. And I mean that sincerely!
But I digress…please note that this establishment is wheelchair accessible and offers only the freshest in quality food items. The chairs are plush, roomy and VERY comfy. Chairs and tables are spaced with plenty of room in-between. No feeling of being placed inside a sardine tin. You’re never “rushed”. We dined and conversed comfortably for several hours without thought as to “having” to leave to make room for next patrons.
My compatriots and I were even comfortable enough to enjoy the most luscious desserts…even though we were quite sated from engorging ourselves on the best appetizers and dinners we’d ever had. The Coconut Bomb and Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwiches made with Chocolate Gelato plus the decadent Chocolate Mousse Cake simply took our breath away. You KNOW something is out of this world when, you close your eyes after taking that first bite, because you want to savor the moment!
While the only photos I took were of an incredible cornflower blue sky, beautiful deep navy blue and pristine turquoise waters below, their foamy white waves crashing on the shore…I feel you will be more encouraged and inclined, to go and experience Latitudes-DelRay Resorts for yourselves. We just felt like we’d taken a mini vacation to the Caribbean and I am quite certain…we WILL return another time to enjoy more of this exquisite, lush dining experience....
Read moreOk, Latitudes is the only restaurant in a 3 mile radius…. So you if you’re staying at the Resort (see review), this is your only choice breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
First, this restaurant is legit! We did dinner and breakfast, plus I have over 6M google views and reviews because my reviews are detailed, down to the tile on the floors.
Second, we had dinner 2 days, Sunday and Monday. The first night we had Local Snapper with mashed potatoes and veggies. The snapper was exceptionally prepared, lightly blackened and seared to perfection. We also had the lobster bisque; it was good but rich. So if you already have a meal coming, I would avoid the bisque. Now the next night, we had the Mai Mai sandwich and Sea Bass; mane so good and huge portions. The Ciabatta Bread took the sandwich to another level!!! The Sea Bass was seared and seasoned to perfection. I also had their Octopus in their pickled sauce; my complaint is not to pre-cut the Octopus because it tends to dry out the tentacles.
Third, we had breakfast two days as well and mane the omelette was slamming. Now they may cut corners and serve fluffy powdered/watered eggs, but they were still good. I had a veggie omelette and had them add Smoked Salmon. I have to say it was one the best meals I’ve had in years. Now the next day, we had their pancakes; we were pleasantly surprised (real talk) they could actually revival Cracker Barrel, NO BS. Needless to say, according to my wife, the smoked bacon was excellent and the potatoes squares were amazing. Our waitress for breakfast was so chill; one day she had some privileged Boca folks, bitching about coffee and cream. She handled them like her kids skipping school, honest, smooth and pleasant. “No problem, I got you!”
Fourth, the restaurant was clean every day and fully staffed. I love how attentive our waiter was each day; he knew the menu and what to recommend. The waiters/waitresses did an excellent job of hustling tables including a huge birthday party- ✊🏿 respect. Their Front End manager, Cindy, was very professional and she actually explained her helicopter presence- SWEET! She loves her staff!
With that, we still highly recommend this restaurant; the chef (s) can really cook. I was thoroughly pleased with our dishes and how they were prepared. So if you are vacationing at the Delray sands Beach Resort don’t worry about the food and taking Uber off the yard, it’s really really good! The Walsh family did good with...
Read moreI've been to Latitude twice, and sadly, both experiences left me deeply disappointed and humiliated. As a Black woman, I can't help but question if that played a role in the poor treatment I received, especially considering how different our service and food presentation were compared to other diners.
The first time I visited with my sister, our food arrived looking messy and unappealing, unlike the beautifully plated dishes at nearby tables. Our server was cold and dismissive, making us feel as if we were an inconvenience rather than paying guests.
Despite that, I decided to give Latitude another chance because of the beautiful atmosphere and their drinks 🍹 (so good) I returned with my sister for her birthday and brought my 4-month-old baby. That evening was one of the most humiliating experiences of my life.
We were the only Black guests dining there. No one greeted us or took ownership of our table. We had to repeatedly stop different servers to ask who was responsible for helping us. Eventually, it started raining and we were seated outside with my baby; when we asked to move indoors, we were told flatly no.
We moved to a different outdoor table, but my baby continued to get wet as the rain came down. For 30 minutes, no server approached us. It wasn’t until a kind Haitian waiter saw us struggling and offered us bread that we finally had someone show basic decency. He took our order, clearly out of compassion, not obligation.
By that point, the damage was done. Our appetizers were poorly presented, and we couldn’t bring ourselves to stay any longer. My sister cried on her birthday and my baby got a cold. I have never felt so dehumanized in a dining setting.
Thank you, Latitude, for reminding us on what should have been a joyful celebration, that basic respect and hospitality are not extended to...
