I’ve been going to Grelma at least once or twice a week for the last month! Time to write a honest review….. Despite being in a competitive neighborhood of several French bakeries, this place SHINES! These prices and consistency of quality CANNOT BE BEAT. I wish I could attach a photo to this post, but whatever I buy never lasts very long as it is quickly and is already consumed. I live in Boynton, but I will NEVER go to Paris Baguette for pastries or the French Bakery for sandwiches ever again, I will drive past them all to get to Grelma. This place is incredibly authentic, the espresso is always perfection, best cannoli of my life, most authentic sfogliatella in south Florida, I can’t help but get a loaf of bread every week, and the SANDWICHES ARE SO FRESH. My Italian-American husband has fallen in love with this little gem and anyone who says the food isn’t quality has no perception of taste and should just keep getting their lasagna from the frozen food section of the grocery store to better suit the refinement of their palate, or lack there of… The owners here invest so much care into everything they create and serve, it is clear that nothing is without thought or consideration-Nothing is flavorless or improperly priced. Every week that passes I end up spending more money here because I add on one more little thing that the next time I visit I just can’t bear to leave without. My only issue I’ve ever had is that I get hot easily and couldn’t eat my sandwich in the shop over the weekend because the air conditioning wasn’t cold enough when we visited at peak 90 degree weather, but the other patrons didn’t seem to care, so we just changed our order to go. Worth it. Oh- My other complaint is that they give themselves two days off and are closed Monday and Tuesday. * edit apparently only closed Monday my boss must’ve been mistaken* Potential patron: please spend money here so they can hire a Monday part time baristas and bakery chefs so I can come here more often during my work week. Do not hesitate. Go to Grelma. Support this local business. You will not regret it....
Read moreWe were in the area for a week long vacation, and we found the hidden gem of Delray Beach. The owner Elena comes from Bologna, Italy, and has brought her knowledge and passion for Italian baked goods to her shops (she mentioned she has 2-3 locations). My husband is Italian, so he has a high standard for any and all things Italian, especially when it comes to food! When you enter Grelma, the space is bright, clean, and beautiful. The case of baked goods instantly catch your attention. The baked goods are larger than average, but just as delicious if not more. What really blew us away was the price- Grelma has the best value for authentic Italian baked goods ALL made from scratch each morning.
What we loved: That it’s a small business which a talented owner/baker All the foods are made fresh daily from scratch with love, finesse, and true Italian flavor The cleanliness of the space The value; we were shocked by how inexpensive her baked goods are compared to the ridiculously overpriced baked goods around The pizza (it’s more like focaccia than the typical sliced pizzas), the straciatelli, s/fasdfksjdf??
We can’t wait to go back to Grelma to see Elena and enjoy a taste of Italy! If you have family in the area from Italy, stop here and get them an assortment of foods to win some major...
Read moreI love it when we find ethnic places that offer really authentic food and this Italian bakery is definitely one of them!
We had planned to go there for breakfast, but due to some setbacks (including driving all the way to their former location on Palmetto Rd. in Boca, which Google map still shows as “open”) we ended up arriving towards lunch time. The shelves were not full when we got there, and we ordered their last pizzetta: a big piece (enough for two people) of focaccia bread with cheese and salami – which was delicious. However, by the time we finished the pizzetta, they had displayed many more freshly baked items, and did so continuously while we were there.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t buy pastry to bring home, because we wouldn’t get back to WPB until night, and the weather is too hot to keep any food in the car; so we “had to” try some of their pastries right there, and they were good! (Same for their coffee, imported from Italy).
The place is not very big inside, but it’s very bright, clean and the staff is very friendly; they also have a couple of tables outside. It’s located in a Walmart plaza, so parking is not an...
