Famous Fried Chicken & Seafood — Restaurant in Highland Springs

I saw this place on TikTok and decided to give them a try. The short and sweet of my experience and the food? Meh, it was okay I guess. For why, read below.

I went around 7:15 and waited in line to place my order. I know there is a dinner rush but the front of house was disorganized. It’s tiny inside if there is a line and there aren’t clear areas marked on where you should go if picking up an order vs. placing an order so it can be hectic.

During my time there were 3 different people in the front of house. The first gentleman took my order, clearly not his daily job(I hope not) it was like I was talking to him and he wasn’t listening. I would say part of an order and he stared at the screen and then would ask “sorry what was that” or I said I wanted a chopped cheese with only cheese, sauce and lettuce “it comes with tomato,lettuce, onions and sauce you want everything?” Ummm I literally just told you what I wanted… I went to the car to wait and reviewed my receipt and saw the chopped cheese I asked to make a combo was not a combo. I was frustrated but no way was I going back in to fix it because I felt like I wasn’t being heard and I would have had to wait in line again or cut in front of everyone so I just decided to live with it.

I got a family meal that came with 4 sides so I figured I would just go to the gas station next door and get a drink and the person who got the chopped cheese could have one of the sides and the drink, problem solved… at least I thought.

I go back in to pick up food and there is another gentleman at the register. Nice but definitely overwhelmed and confused about where orders were, how to work the register etc. (side note he was on the register with black gloves on because it looked like he typically worked in the kitchen, then later he had those same gloves on. I’m not saying or accusing without evidence but I sure hope they weren’t the same gloves. Gloves create a false sense of safety when working in a kitchen, but again no proof they were the same gloves)

Before I got up to the register to inquire about my food he was talking to someone in back saying he couldn’t work the register and needed to switch. So a third individual was now on the register a younger girl, I asked her about my food and she asked the guy who just went back how much longer it would be and he said just a few minutes.

It wasn’t much longer the girl went in back and the second guy came back out(why was there not one dedicated person in front I don’t know) I will say the younger girl was apologizing, greeting people etc and the two gentleman were decently pleasant but didn’t greet anyone really just sat there waiting for you to say what you wanted when it was your turn.

The second guy called me, bagged the food up and then I left. My 4 sides were 2 potato wedges, collard greens and mac and cheese. I was missing an order of wedges when I got home.

The food was not nasty but in my opinion nothing special. The chicken was moist but not very flavorful. Same with chicken tenders. My son liked the chopped cheese. Nothing is wrong with this place but, in my opinion the front of house needs organization and the food is just average, in my opinion there is no reason to come here over other gas station/bodega type places. I didn’t get any seafood this trip but I have heard good things, maybe you will have better luck with the seafood. I personally won’t be going back but I would advise you try for yourself and...

We visited this establishment last week. It was next to a gas station convenience store but not in the convenience store. It has a small seating area with a couple of booths. I have to assume that the person who took our order was new. Every time we asked for something, she replied, “no, that doesn’t come with that”. The menu clearly stated we could get whatever we were requesting without it being any additional cost. We finally got out to go order. The person who put our stuff in a bag was snippy when we were trying to validate the order. She looked at us and said with an attitude, “do you want to check it”. We said no but we definitely should have. When we got back home, one of the orders wasn’t prepared how we ordered. It was, however, marked on our receipt so it looks like the person cooking the food didn’t read the order. One of the subs, we requested no mayo. When we opened the sandwich, it was a smattering of mayo on the sandwich. Mayo prompts allergic reactions. We did not enjoy our meal for that reason. Tik Tok creators have been blowing this B.O.B up recently so I had to try the Extreme Catfish sandwich. The bun 0/10: top bun was flat and ripped,not fresh and had something black on bun (praying it was toasted in a cast iron pan and not mold). The Catfish 7/10. The fries 5/10

Advice for business: Please place CUSTOMER FREINDLY staff to speak to customers placing/picking up orders! My adult daughter went in to get both my and her online order and was asked rudely by a lady there "do you have a receipt". Who else would know to pick up an order if they didn't have receipt/name/phone number for order. Always keep in mind that customers are driving past other businesses (Trevors, Shrimp Shack, Captain Ds) to support YOU.

Advice for potential take out customers: Most likely you waited over 30 minutes to pick up order so open the bag and CHECK the "quality" of your order! In our case my daughter and I trusted that our food would be what we ordered/seen on Tik...
