I’ve been eating from Carini’s since I was in elementary school and after a while my mom started just ordering take out instead of dining in. Well on 5/26, this was the first time I had sat in the restaurant for years and it was not how I remembered it! This place has lost its Italian touch. When I first walked in I wasn’t greeted right away because the servers were just causally conversing. I also had three servers before I even got to my table that they had just cleaned up in front of me. This location hasn’t been packed in years and had about three groups so you would expect to see clean tables. I waited fifteen mins before my actual waitress asked for our drinks but she walked passed my table about six times. Once we did get our drinks, we were ready to order. That day I decided to try something new which so happened to be the Parmesan chicken breast, but I asked for the Parmesan chicken sub with mozzarella instead of provolone. I didn’t realize that my server had misheard me because of how nonchalant she was acting towards my partner and I. She takes our order but comes back because the chicken breast comes with a salad, but to remind you guys I asked for a sub so I was surprised that a salad was being offered. How she asked was very unprofessional such as instead of walking back to our table she turned around and was talking to us from a distance. “Oh yeah, the Parmesan chicken come with a salad. Do you want the salad and do you want ranch?” was my servers question that she asked. I wasn’t aware of the house salad and how uniquely different it was, so I felt like she should have explained it better. I did return the salad and I mentioned that I thought they had options for the salads such as Caesar. So she brought out the new salad which was Roman lettuce with Parmesan cheese and Caesar, but no croutons. The server informed me that the caesar’s do not come with croutons and that normally only the house salads do but when my house salad, that I didn’t ask for, was brought to me it didn’t have croutons on it. Why would she inform me that if they didn’t even stick to it??? After I got my new salad, that she slid on the table and kept walking, and garlic bread which wasn’t complimentary, I was fine. The servers carried on their conversations about guest complaining about their service and food quality. There was also a table complaining about the service to a server while I was waiting. I did a little ease dropping to see if I would hear anything out of the normal but I should’ve taken that as a red flag and left. As I listened to all the surrounding complaints I waited for my food and my server didn’t check on my table at all during the wait. I finally got my sauce drowned, cheese covered chicken breast and I said, “oh I thought it was supposed to be a sub”. The server tried to debate with me about what I asked for and then tried to belittle by saying, “ that’s why it came with a salad”. So I informed her that I was confused about why you were asking me if I wanted a salad because normally subs don’t come with side salads. She did ask if I wanted something different but I had spent so much time waiting on my food that I just wanted to eat so I told her it was fine. The server did keep insisting but it didn’t feel sincere so I just stuck it out. Meanwhile after my server went behind our booth she started saying to the other servers, “ Watch, she’s going to eat some of her chicken and then try not to pay for it because she claims she asked for a sub”. Unfortunately, I did not hear that statement but my partner did. I tried the chicken breast it was nothing special about it and I was unsatisfied. I wasn’t given a discount but she did ask if we wanted togo drinks. Once I got my receipt, I noticed that the server put her name with a heart like she did a good service. I wanted to tell her that the service probably would have been better if she would’ve not profiled my partner and I and would’ve slowed down did a proper job of explaining. I didn’t feel welcomed, relaxed or...
Read moreWanted to try this place since we are Italian and from Sicily too. Saw good reviews but not sure from who. The outside looks terrible, but still Wanted to go in and try it. So we did. the inside was cute and the feeling of being in Italy. The place had about 30 people inside. Not busy at all with the staff they had sitting down. The service was terrible. Waited almost 25 mins for appetizers which was only mozzarella fritta. Dinner I ordered veal cutlets plain. They came out burnt and over cooked. The owner came out and said yes I agree, they look over cooked. I only ate them because I was starving and I didn’t want to send them back. So I ate 1/3 of them maybe. The owner wanted to make something else but I refused. When the bill came, it was still on the bill. I had to ask them to remove it when as a business owner they should have as a courteous should have done that from the beginning. Especially when you agreed and said they were over cooked. Then we ordered 3 drinks which one got knocked over accidentally and I asked them also to remove it because we didn’t even drink it bc it spilled and the owner came over again and said who spilled it? I said it spilled accidentally and we didn’t even drink it. I said forget it it’s fine leave it. She literally rolled her eyes and walked away without saying a word. When I got the check the items were removed. But with an attitude and I had to ask them to remove it instead of doing it themselves as owners and wanting to keep a customer happy. But it seems to them money is more important instead of keeping the customer happy. I’ve never been to a place that a owner or worker was so rude and didn’t try to accommodate or make the customer happy. What a disgrace. Would never recommend or go back again. Terrible. The customer is always right no matter what and you should be apologizing instead of rolling your eyes and walking away from...
Read moreWent to Carini Italian Restaurant last night. My reservation was at 4pm for 30 people. At 4:35 with roughly 15 people there, we had yet to see a waitress. Eventually, Angela comes over full of smiles and laughter so all is forgiven. Then, they sent over Lane. Lane was not so full of smiles or laughter. She made no eye contact, she was cold and abrupt, she rolled her eyes. Actually, Lane's disposition was so negative that my very sweet aunt said "What's going on with her?" To which others replied "I don't think she wants to serve us." And I must agree. The table behind us had a fun, smiling, attentive waiter.... her name is Lane! Same waitress with 2 different experiences. I can only imagine that my party had nothing to do with it. Maybe she didn't want to serve a large party of so many attractive people! Maybe she doesn't like making money! Maybe she thought a birthday party for a dead child is too depressing. I thought about the fact that race relations are high and maybe a group of 30 black people .... naw! Couldn't be that!
Overall, had I not been vocal and told other staff, Lane would have ruined a beautiful and supposed to be stress free night. At my table were radio personalities, singers, comedians, poets, teachers, etc who spread the word about places they enjoy. Unfortunately, the rest of the evening didn't go as smoothly with missed orders and incorrect food. But the servers were much nicer and worked harder so we had a nice time.
Overall, I've been having events at Carini's for years. Family reunions, dinner parties, etc. I've always been happy and I'll continue to come back. But Lane, who proved that she had a personal problem with handling my party, needs an...
