TL;DR Great food, scrumptious desserts, cash only.
This place is great. The building is tucked away in a cozy little nook by the hills. The atmosphere is incredibly saturated with a "hometown" feeling. All of their menus are fixed to the wall by the window you order at so you can review them while waiting in line.
They offer a variety of dishes such as burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. While their desserts cover your basics with sundaes, ice cream cones, and malts, they also offer plenty of other options like banana splits, cream puffs, and monkey bread.
The food tastes great and easily beats out any fast food I've had. Although, the wait is rather long as the lines are large and cooking time is lengthy. Be warned however that they accept cash only, although there is an ATM within a reasonable distance.
The pricing seems a little high by my standards. When I last visited in May, a standard combo meal was around $13. Although, just a simple sandwich with fries is around $7. I would expect a lunch for two with dessert to easily hit the $30 mark.
All in all, a great place to grab lunch after hiking in the hills. Nothing fancy, just a good burger...
Read moreWe ordered Milkshakes and received soft serve ice creams in a cup with a spoon. My shake(soft serve ) was supposed to be Lemon but was pink and the women working tried to tell me it was pink lemonade and lemon and that pink lemonade and lemon ice cream are the same exact thing. The food was very bland fried food and they forgot the sauces. The women working the window was very rude and had no customer service skills. We ate all over the Black Hills during our stay and this was the worst food and by far the worst service we had. The owner/manager needs to check herself on how she talks to customers and to children, she belittled my child and insinuated she’s never had a shake before and that they always come as soft serve ice cream with a spoon. She also closed the windows in my daughter face when she asked why there were spoons and not straws for the shakes. They only accepted cash and didn’t want to refund us for there fake milk shakes and cardboard box flavored food. They probably get lots of requests for refund and deny them, which is why they only take cash. I recommend the short drive over to Custer for much...
Read moreI would normally rate this place 5 stars on ice cream and 3 stars on food, which is pricey and they do not accept credit cards so better have a lot of cash. But our visit yesterday was not a good one! They have plenty of signs that say leave your dog in the car and my son did just that with the car running of course. There was five of us and we were enjoying our food and ice cream for quite a while and we thought of my son's dog and decided to make sure he was ok and that the car was still running. The car had shut off and it was getting pretty warm in there already and the poor thing was just panting. So my son took him out of the car and gave him some water to get him cooled off. He was ok but any longer and it could have been bad. The staff was VERY rude about the dog being outside with us. And it had only been a minute or two. There were words exchanged by both sides and we left. I mean now days most cars do shut off after 20 minutes so if you go there with your pet be ready to leave them in the car and make sure the car stays running and don't lose...
