What sets this place apart is the service. From the moment you walk in the door these guys give you a genuine greeting and just seem happy you are there. It doesn't matter if it's your first time (which it was for me), they treat you like a long lost friend. The brisket is really good. And the jalepeno sausage was excellent. I know there is a big debate about using sauce on bbq, and typically I prefer to find BBQ that stands on its own. This BBQ definitely does, BUT, i tried the sauce and could not stop dipping. So if you are a sauce person the slight sweetness of this sauce is a must try. The potato salad is outstanding (if you like Rudy's style potato salad, it's that style). The mac and cheese I was not impressed with, but that's a personal preference thing, as it is a popular item here it seems. My travel partner had the pea salad and she said pea salad is hard to find and is very picky about it, but she really liked theirs. But the food was so good I could have cared less about what the decore looked like and wouldn't have much minded if id had to sit on a tree stump. After all I was eating there, not living there. Read more3.5 stars. As y’all know…I love BBQ and I love to try new joints and give them a try. The Good: Customer Service is great! Brisket is tender, ribs have a little tug on them, sausage, well they get from Slovacek’s which they make great sausage. Mac and cheese phenomenal!
The Bad: Brisket had no seasoning and no smoke ring, which means no smoke flavor, if your pits are new and not seasoned, then you may need to do a simple salt and pepper rub on your brisket, don’t get fancy. As mentioned above the ribs, add the same seasoning to your ribs, too sweet as they are!Regular pinto beans, add salt and pepper.
The Ugly: Less than a 2 minute trip to hotel, food was cold, suggestion: keep your food service area filled with Hot water!
