I recently visited Marylin’s bakery, During my visit, the employee who assisted us who had blue hair styled in two braids was noticeably unprofessional and dismissive. Her attitude made my mother and me feel as though we were inconveniencing her by simply placing an order. On top of that, she carelessly packed a spinach feta croissant alongside a chocolate chip cookie and sugar donuts in the same bag. This lack of attention to detail was both unprofessional and unappetizing. I now live in Indiana, and I would have been even more upset if I had traveled all that way and spent a considerable amount of money, only to encounter such poor service. Customer service and attention to detail are crucial aspects of any successful business, and even if someone is having a bad day, a little effort to be respectful and careful can make all the difference. The quality of the bakery's products is undeniable, but experiences like this can overshadow even the best offerings. I hope Marilyn’s Bakery can address these concerns, as I would love to continue supporting this business in the future. Absolutely saddened by...
Read moreLove this place! The location is adorable and they have great food and baked goods! We ordered our wedding cake from here and had an excellent experience! Laura was very helpful, accommodating to any changes and requests we had, professional, and friendly. The cake was DELICIOUS! When my husband and I first cut the cake and took a bite, we were both surprised at how incredibly good it was even though we knew how tasty the cakes are. The fondant was actually delicious too. The only negative part of our whole experience is that parts of the fondant dried a little before serving (that may have been our fault from how we stored it though) so it cracked in a few spots but it wasn't significant and is the only negative thing I can think of at all. I was so impressed with how intricate the details were and how similar the cake looked to the example we gave. We may have to drive the 2 hours from home to come here for our one year anniversary to have...
Read moreTo be fair I have only been here twice but yuck. I love pumpkin pie and look forward to it on Thanksgiving day. Normally I get a pumpkin pie from bakers square ever year, the one with whip cream on top. Well I am new to the portage area and bakers is a distance from me and folks kept recommending this place. The pumpkin pie was $15 so comparable to bakers but that's where the similarities stop! It was the worst pumpkin pie I had in my life. Seriously I have had ones at stack and van that were better. I have to say the customers there were a bit snotty for my taste. One man commented that the ugly pies (pies they sell at about $8 that aren't perfect) are for poor people. This kind of upset me but isn't the businesses fault. Also I have yet to contact them directly about their horrible pumpkin pie but will do so soon. I can say the employees were kind. I will update when I finally...
