This is not a review of the food offerings, but rather of the management!
This is the 2nd time we made reservations weeks in advance for dinner on the patio, and the 2nd time they were screwed up. The first time we reserved a patio table for 7, but instead they had a table for only 2. After some back and forth with the manager, we were accommodated on the patio and enjoyed the fireworks entertainment and the food. Last night, July 4th, however, things turned out completely different. Again a patio table for 6 was reserved weeks in advance, but on arrival, found the reservation was for inside, rather than on the patio, which was verified when the reservation was made. Unfortunately this time, the hostess and manager both said they would not/could not accommodate us, so we left.
While I am in no way authorized to provide unsolicited advice to how an owner or manager wants to run their restaurant, I'll just make a small exception this one time. When one makes a reservation at your restaurant, and the person taking the reservation confirms it is exactly what is requested, table on the patio, if you are not sure as to whether the reservation is still needed, make a phone call or send a text message. Restaurants I patronize do this all of the time.
6 Paupers was one of my go to restaurants before and even after the pandemic. While I liked the food and the wait staff, making the same error more than once is enough to tell me to go elsewhere, which is exactly what we did.
I wish the best for 6 Paupers, but my face shall never grace its...
Read moreI've been here twice. The first time was on a weeknight and the second early evening on a Saturday. The first time we had half-priced burgers which were edible but not exciting. (The chef didn't shape them with a divot in the middle, so the patty became a little spherical--IMHO, a rookie mistake.) The second visit, the waiter was polite but slower than you'd expect for the crowd. My companions liked their meals but I had to send mine back as it was unbelievably salty. Again, what I consider a rookie mistake (or a chain smoking chef who can't taste anymore.) I hate sending food back but it had nearly toxic salinity. The waiter replaced it with something (more expensive, which is why it wasn't my first choice) but I had to wait, hungrily, for another 20 minutes while my companions ate, for an adequate but not exciting meal. Then the waiter vanished, dodging us like an ex. We had to pay a different waiter just to settle up. This bar prices itself like a gastro pub, but the food doesn't measure up. Think...
Read moreI will never visit this restaurant or give them any of my business again. I had called and spk to the hostess and made a reservation for a party of 19 for a baby shower. The reservation was made back on April 17th. I was specifically told by the hostess that they have a back room that we could use and because of covid they weren’t charging for the room at all. She took down all of my information and told me she would have the manager call if there was a problem but that we will all set. I called today to confirm everything was a go and needless to say I was transferred to the general manager who proceeded to tell me he knows nothing about my reservation and the kitchen staff isn’t there until 2 he couldn’t help me.and we would be the only ones there if we showed up at 1:30 which was the reservation time. This restaurant is unorganized and apparently there is no communication between the hostess and managers. I now am having to track down 19 guests to reschedule a baby shower. But again they certainly...
