Holden Pizza — Restaurant in Holden

I've been doing business with this pizza place for decades, and they put together a decent, Greek-style pizza for a reasonable price. The place seemed to be run by a mom and pop team, and they cared about what they did.

I think they turned the business over to the kid, and his main motivation is to cut costs to increase profit.

First bad experience was ordering a pizza at 9 at night. They close at 10. When I got there, they had turned off the pizza oven to save electricity, so my pizza never browned. It was white on the bottom, and not well cooked. Plus, they switched from hand pulled dough to premade, frozen shells that were far smaller than the box that they used for packaging.

The last time I went in, there was no cheese on the pizza. Before, there was probably 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch of thickness on the pie. This time, there was a single layer of shredded cheese applied, that was more flavoring than actual ingredient.

The parents used to greet me at the door, ask about my family, and smile. The kid barely says a word, never smiles, and acts as though you are a bother to shuffle out the door at his earliest convenience.

It's sad, but pizza has become this frozen food thing that stores put through a conveyor oven for reheating. Frozen shells, canned sauce, and packaged, pre-cut toppings.

I have no idea how this place got any stars, I only ever leave reviews when places are amazing but this place was so bad that I just don’t understand! I ordered a pastrami and cheese sub and a steak and cheese sub. The pastrami was so thick, hard and dry like the consistency of beef jerky, there wasn’t enough mayo in the world to make it edible, 3 bites in and had to toss the whole large sub. The steak n cheese was flavorless with only cheese on the edge bites and it was hard like dried glue, had to douse the meat with ketchup to not waste another sub. Curly fries tasted the same as every other pizza place so can’t complain there but seriously, I have never had an experience like this and I am not a picky eater at all. Guess it’s back to ordering from Papa Gino’s or Dominos from now :( sincerely, Disappointed in Holden **Posted...

I'm very impressed with the professio alism of the woman behind the counter. I went in for wings...which are always delicious. I do not get the breaded ones ever do to gluten sensitivity. Well I got To the car and checked my order and there were a bunch of in my opinion..yucky breaded wing dings soggy with Buffalo sauce. I brought them back in and talked to the lady. I told her I didn't order wing dings..i ordered regular wings and she told me they should have let me know on the phone that they were all out of the regular ones but they did not amd she apologized. She then gave me a full refund and she gave me the veggies from the wings. She felt terrible. On a side note and a typical experience...holden pizza has great wings and their mushroom and hamburg pizza is delicious. I will be back for...
