We shared a dragon roll, crab rangoons, and mixed tempura for appetizers.
The dragon roll was very good with very well balanced flavors and great texture between the crispy tempura, the tender shrimp, the velvety avocado and cream cheese, and the rich sauce.
The crab rangoons were hot and fresh with simple cream cheese and crab filling⦠just the way I like them without any onions inside the filling.
The mixed tempura was wonderfully light and crisp⦠not at all greasy⦠with shrimp, chicken, sweet potato, onion, and broccoli.
For entrees, we got teriyaki steak and teriyaki chicken hibachi. Iām came with fried rice, sautĆ©ed zucchini and onion, a few peeled and deveined shrimp, and the steak/chicken. Before the main entrees were brought out, we also had a simple salad with iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, and ginger dressing, and a clear broth soup with onions, scallions, and mushrooms.
Everything was hot and fresh and presented beautifully with orchids as garnishment. The plates themselves are unique and beautiful.
They serve coke products and have sweet and unsweetened ice tea.
The service was attentive and prompt and polite.
Note: this is NOT a hibachi restaurant where the chef performs a show for you while cooking your meal. Everything was prepared in the back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve found Kyoto historically to be hit and miss. We stopped going there as we found the quality of the meals had gone down a bit. We decided to give it a chance this weekend. Ordered four takeout hibachi meals that came to $89.
When we got home, and opened our meals we were pretty surprised. The portions were tiny. My chicken hibachi had 8 pieces of chicken breast that were about 1/2 inch squared at best. A half cup of fried rice and a 1/4 cup of veggies were also surprising. My wife had the more expensive filet mignon. Portions were the same. We wondered if these were lunch or kids portions.
At an average of over $20 a meal... we expected a little more.
The lettuce in our salads was browning and mushy. Our soup containers were a 1/3 full.
When I called the restaurant the manager told me the portions are measured and all the same....which if youāve ever done cooking table hibachi, is not quite true. I rarely can finish cooking table portions at other restaurants.
He said, come back and weāll give you some extra rice at no charge. ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust walked out of the Whittinsville location after a terrible experience! If I could give 0 stars, I would! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! My husband and I walked in for the first time and stood at the check in stand for 7 mins (mind you, it was not busy) before a young girl came up to us and told us to sit at the first table on the right. She didnāt walk us to the table (like a normal host would do) or hand us menus or take our drink orders, just pointed in the direction of the table and went back to sit at the far end of the bar with other employees. We sat at our table for 18 mins and not a single employee came to us. They checked in on every table around us but avoided all eye contact with us. We tried waving someone down but the entire staff was at the far end of the bar hanging out with customers. The tables around us were even shocked at the service towards us. Iāve never been so blatantly singled out or felt so...
