My son and I came to Over the Coles after reading rave reviews and seeing it pop up on Door Dash multiple times. My son ordered the wing special with fries, I ordered a full rack of ribs with Mac n cheese and baked beans, and my partner had the two meat plate with brisket, jalapeño sausage, and potato salad. Both mine and my partners orders came with coleslaw and corn bread.
My son LOVED the wings! The ribs were fall off the bone, perfectly smoked, and so flavorful that I didn’t realize I was eating them without bbq sauce until my 4th rib 😂 The spicier of the 2 sauces was my favorite! My partner said that his brisket was delicious and moist. The jalapeño sausage was the perfect level of heat for him.
As far as the sides go, the cornbread had great flavor but was a little dry. The honey butter definitely helped :) The baked beans were delicious as was the potato salad. The Mac and cheese was yummy but could definitely use a little more flavor and a bit more of a southern touch to it.
All in all, a great first experience at Over the Coles! I believe the lady at the counter was named Joanie, and she was super nice and helpful. Excellent customer service from her! We will...
Read moreI was looking for stellar bq for my 45th birthday with a friend of mine. We'd decided on Over the Coles as it was prepared in a food truck and with so many chefs now owning food trucks and coming up with wild tasty menus we took the chance and sadly lost. If flavor was an ingredient, it was completely missing here. The presentation was ok for a cafeteria, the sides portions were a ramekin sized Styrofoam container looking life the old ice cream we'd get with the wooden spoon in the lid and "dill chips" ended up being a small bag of original Lay's potato chips smashed in the top of the pulled pork sandwich container. If there hadn't been 3 small 1 ounce ramekin servings of bbq sauce this meal wouldn't have been passable as swallowable. This has to be the least flavorful bbq I've ever tried. Is it an SLC thing? Oh and are healthy sized portions of sides and bbq so pricey they could destroy a restaurant's financial well-being to add a tad more? At $2.29 A large carte I think not. Oh and the coleslaw, pepper, some salt maybe some apple cider vinegar for flavor, ...
Read moreI had just come back from 6 days in Texas, totally BBQ’d out, when I realized we had a BBQ potluck on Monday. At 10am I was calling around like crazy trying to find someone open, and that’s when I found Over the Cole’s BBQ, the only place to pick up the phone. I told them what I needed and that I’d be there in 15 minutes, and sure enough, they were waiting with a smile, finishing up my order.
When I called, they explained their chicken was a dry rub style and that BBQ sauce came with it. When I got there to pay, I added rolls but forgot to mention the sauce, and without hesitation, they tossed it in the bag, no questions asked. That small gesture said everything.
Even before I took a bite, I knew the food was going to be good just because of the people behind it, and it truly was. After nearly a week of BBQ in Texas, I didn’t think I’d be excited about more, but this was different. The chicken was amazing, and the BBQ sauce was that chef’s kiss finishing touch.
I 100% recommend Over the Cole’s BBQ, not only for the delicious food but also for the genuine...
