Vee's Grill & Coney Island — Restaurant in Holland Charter Township

This was our first time at Vee's and we were really excited about it as we have only heard good things. The wait to be seated wasn't very long which was nice. But the wait to get our food was over an hour because they prioritized a very large to-go order instead of seated customers (on a Sunday morning). We had two small children with us and by the time my food came I had to box it up and take my baby to the car and my husbands food didn't come because the waitress said the chef was arguing with her over already making it. His finally came and he felt it was made quickly and not well and ate it at the table without me there since I had to leave. The waitresses were kind an apologized to us multiple times, but to my surprise we received a full bill for our meal that required a very long wait, my husbands got lost in the shuffle and wasn't done well, and mine had to be packed up to go. The visit here, while highly anticipated due to recommendation from coworkers, was a complete disappointment. Because our server, Lauren, apparently didn't understand my order I was not given the meal I requested. When asked, she offered to reorder my meal correctly as long as I was willing to pay for the incorrect meal as well. Needless to say I declined her offer. I did pay for the incorrect meal, although I didn't eat it since it wasn't what I ordered. This was possibly one of the worse dining experiences I've ever had and definitely won't be returning to this establishment any time in the future. Something recently has changed at Vee's. The food isn't the same. I'm not sure if there's been a change in the head cook or the quality/supplier of their food but the eggs, sausage and hashbrowns taste different. Not the same quality as before. The coffee is also much too strong. Before it was a little weak but still good but now it's very bitter. I've tried to contact the owner but no reply from them. We loved this place and it's right around the corner from our house. Maybe it's us. We are kind of picky and notice subtle changes in food. You can't beat the service and atmosphere.
