I love the one in Waynesboro, so I wanted to love the new Daleville location, but it fell a little flat. Let's start off with the hostess - ignored me for a while, and then had an attitude because we wanted a table for 3. This started my first concern....it's not really ADA friendly. You can't sit at a table unless it's a high-top or outside. So, if you're on a walker or in a wheelchair (one of our party is), you're kinda out. Also, the booths aren't made for larger people. I don't understand restaurants that only have booths - if that's what you're going to do, then at least make them comfortable! It took a while for our waitress to show up, but she did and seemed very friendly. She took our order and I thought we were back on track. However, she only got 2 of our 3 drinks correct - brought a Sweet Tea instead of a Dr. Pepper. Didn't leave any straws - had to ask for them, she went to get one and forgot what she was getting, returned to the table to ask what I asked for. We also had to wait quite a while on drink refills as well. Food wise - it was okay. We did have to wait a while and they weren't that busy. We love the pretzel and crab dip appetizer in Waynesboro, but this dip was too runny and didn't have enough flavor. Also, one of the pretzels was half cold. I had the shrimp po'boy and it came out with only half of a top bun and the bun wasn't toasted, so it sorta fell apart. The shrimp was really good and their fried green tomatoes were were excellent. One of the group ordered the sweet potato fries, and they were good, but it came with a cinnamon butter that was so hard (because it was cold) that you needed a knife to cut and spread it. Our third member ordered the pulled pork sandwich. He said it was incredibly good, but the mac and cheese was not. It tasted like a rue based cheese sauce where the flour hadn't been cooked enough. I'm really hoping they will work out the kinks as they settle into business. This location is so much closer than Waynesboro, and I want to love it. However, the hostess staff definitely needs more training, the waitstaff needs to pay more attention to customers, and the managers/owners really need to work on the table situation. That last part maybe the the thing that disappointed me the most. If you're going to a restaurant, you want to be...

Read moreI came to Fishin Pig a couple weeks ago with a party of 9. We called ahead to see if we could make reservations and were told "no, but our wait times are never that long." We waited over an hour and a half for a table, which we somewhat expected given it was a Saturday at dinner time at a new restaurant. I would suggest a water dispenser and disposable cups for guests who have to wait this long.
We finally were seated and ordered drinks. My partner and I both ordered an old-fashioned (no prices listed on the cocktail menu) and chose to upgrade the bourbon to Woodford Reserve. The drinks that came out had so much ice in them I had to scoop some out. For the next round, he opted for a beer (the only option that wasn't the most generic beer ever was the Mango Cart) and I ordered another old-fashioned. When it arrived it, it was obviously made by a different bartender because it had more alcohol in it than the first drinks combined.
When the bill came, I was shocked to see they had charged us $11 per cocktail PLUS a $10 upcharge for the Woodford, bringing the total for one cocktail to $21. I asked the server to confirm this and she came back and doubled down that, yes, that was the correct price. I pointed out that the price for Woodford on their menu was $9. She went to get the manager but instead they adjusted the price and only charged us for the Woodford, citing a mistake in the system. It rubbed me the wrong way that the server initially tried to say that was the correct price.
We waited an hour for food, which was just OK. The fried pickles were soggy. Our friend ordered a side dish and when our food came out he was told they had run out of the side dish and to pick something else. He asked for the cornbread. We had also ordered the cornbread, but apparently they ran out of that as well by giving him the last piece instead of us.
Overall, the experience made me not want to come back, considering we drove an hour to get there. My advice is to check your bill before you pay and be weary of...
