Nice little shop with a helpful owner!

I've been here a handful of times, for gifts, and come away happy with my purchase every time. There's a nice variety of handmade chocolates and candies and gifts.

And I grew attached to this shop during the pandemic. I visited the store, not realizing they weren't allowed to have visitors inside at the time (they are now).

The owner met me at the door and offered to shop for me while I waited outside. I wasn't sure how that would go but I figured I'd give it a shot.

She asked me what the person I was buying for liked, and then brought to the door a few recommendations. She didn't quite hit the mark on the first try, so she asked a couple more questions and came back and nailed it.

I was very impressed because it was obvious to me she really has a customer-centered approach to her business. And she's knowledgeable about the products she curates in her shop.

And she cares.

On a separate visit - while I was in the store - she noticed I had grabbed a dairy-free version of a chocolate, which was more expensive than the regular version. She could have just rung up my order, but she pointed it out to me.

I actually WAS interested in the dairy-free version, but I was really impressed that she thought I might have made a mistake and wanted to point it out, even though it might mean a little less revenue for her.

I’ve been shopping at The Candy and Gift Cottage at least twice a year for a few years now. A trip to the store includes buying pretty jewelry which is reasonably priced as well as food items and gifts. But let’s face it, the real reason is the chocolate! They carry a brand which is the best I’ve ever had and I’ve been in shops from Maine to Florida. If you’re a chocaholic like I am, you will love their selection and the quality. After buying a few pounds, I realized my friends would go crazy for it. Now I buy 15-20 pounds and have it shipped to me, in between visits to Milford, PA. It makes a nice thank you gift for your hairdresser, mailman, pet sitter, etc. and it a nice little present when you want to make a friend feel special. The couple who own the shop are just as nice as can be and so helpful. Lots of cute gift items and specialty...

Many people in my life are peanut and tree nut allergic and The Candy Cottage has saved my life! They have an array of allergy-friendly candy, including seasonal candy as well. There’s something here for everyone — I highly recommend for any birthday, holiday, or gift in general. The staff is so incredibly kind and coming here is always enjoyable. When I told the staff about the allergy, they gladly directed me to the allergy-friendly section and were able to answer any and every question I had.
