City Café — Restaurant in Holly Ridge

This was my first time here! I stopped by on my way to do a roof inspection so I didn't have time to sit down and eat and they can do to go orders! The front desk ladies were so sweet, helped me browse the menu and recommended some of their favorites and we ended up building a breakfast burrito with 2 eggs, onion and peppers and perfectly salted country ham. It was delicious and very easy to eat in the truck on the go because they wrapped it nice and tight and cut it in half so it wasn't a messy experience! I loved their chocolate milk, they mix it themselves and it reminds me of my childhood mixing Hershey syrup in milk. It doesn't have that weird artificial taste to it and really hits the nostalgic spot! The staff was so kind and seemed to take great care of everyone there and they pay attention to their customers because a couple different staff members complimented my black and green nails that match my Maven Roofing work truck! Today we ate there and my father and I had the same order (pancakes, eggs home fries and sausage) and it arrived cold, my fathers sausage patties were too hard to cut or even chew. My daughters order was barely warm and she said her sausage links tasted under cooked.. We waited 40 minutes to get our food, and when I asked, you could see the waitress new something had went wrong, but management did not even care nor address the issue. I tried to address the issue, and was told I could sit and wait for the food or I could leave with out paying for the OJ we ordered. No real customer service to speak of. I always stop by this Cafe it's Mom and Pop outstanding atmosphere, very good Southern flavor very welcoming to the public and great conversation. The food is serve piping hot breakfast and lunch some of the best you don't want to wash your hands when you finish eating your meal LOL. They serve generous portions on the menu especially the meatloaf, I said to the sister that prepared my meal will you please baptize that with some good gravy and it was on.
