Shanghai18 Kosher Asian Cuisine — Restaurant in Hollywood

So I had to order more than once in order for me to give an honest review. I have seen good and bad reviews about the food and some are right but most are truly overreacting.

First time I ordered I had some issues with the vibe and short attitude of the girl in the front but figured it was a bad day.

2nd time I ordered was yesterday and seems it is a habit for the girl that answer the phone and hand the order for pickup to be very short with people plus seems to miss instruction when you order.

The tables they put outside filling with people is a hazard! We almost fell because there was no room to pass hope that will be addressed.

As for the food:

The flavor is actually good, much better then the usual American Chinese where it's usually way to oily and with a bad after taste while the flavor here was pretty good BUT there some lack for details and few shortcuts they doing.

The stir fry chicken for the sesame chicken amd others seems like it's tossed with corn starch or some flour, which made it a bit sticky.

The snow Pease are not being cleaned in the edges so you can't even chew them because you ending up spitting the sticks from the edges of the snow Pease, any restaurant or home cook you take a moment to chop the edges.

The chicken egg rolls had a very big amount of residue flour, which make it impossible to eat, I felt I was biting into en egg roll covered in uncooked flour ( shame because flavor seems good )

The flavors are absolutely there and with some small attention to details and with a small adjustment to the attitude of the front girl the place can be so much better.

This is by no means a cheap place to eat so don't expect to spend same as a hole in the wall Chinese but at the same time for what I pay I expect not to clean my food instead of the kitchen and I don't need to feel like I need to walk on egg shell talking to the girls in the front.

Will I order food here again? Absolutely, but I will ask them to adjust few things and I will address the attitude if I encounter it again.

I love to support home family restaurants and even though I ended throwing few items away I will still give it a 3rd chance and will update the review good or bad.

I’ve been around surfside for a week and wanted to retry a new “low key” non gourmet place I also was in mood for some chinese. So I googled and found this place China Bistro in Hollywood Fl Went on a Sunday night Took us 30 minutes to get there There was no apparent owner there The place looks like a typical “non gourmet” fast food joint Not dirty not clean Seems to be doing a brisk take out business Next door is a steak and hamburger place not sure if they are connected. We were very hungry and looking forward to a tasty meal

Didn’t happen

Bottom line - I would never return or recommend this place

Prices are not cheap but not very expensive The service was not great. We got our appetizers after the main dishes After Askong numerous times

We ordered chicken egg rolls and steamed dumplings The egg rolls were way over fried and the dumplings were garbage Just nasty tasting So appetezers we’re a waste

For main We ordered Ginger chicken and also a meat and chicken Mongolian duo The ginger in the chicken was totally not apparent and the chicken was too salty. Just wasn’t tasty The Mongolian duo was a bit better The meat was way over fried and the chicken was ok We had a water and a seltzer

Total damage before tip (why I tipped - I have no idea. The service was just non existent had to ask for my food and appetisers numerous times) Was $78 IMHO you could do better anywhere else Food was subpar and location ? Eh….a typical store front in a florida mall

Must be better places around

PPS- plz read owners rude and idiotic response - and that my friends is another reason not to give this place your business. Another moron who thinks you can buy frozen egg rolls and deep fry them and put chicken in a wok and call it chinese

This place was recommended to me and I heard so many good reviews about their delicious food. Once in a while when Im lazy to go or have kids with me, I order food thru uberEats. This time I decided to do the same. April 3, 2022 I placed an order around 7pm and paid extra to deliver it faster. The main thing I really wanted this evening I was craving the most was chicken lettuce wrap. I usually order it at Cilantro but on UberEats it was showing around 1 hour to deliver… If I only knew what would happen I would definitely order from them (Cilantro). So I ordered 2 chicken lettuce wrap and some soup. At around 7pm (it was at 7:02PM). Paid extra to be delivered at around 7:45PM. Waiting… One driver came and the food wasn’t prepared yet, its ok, as long as it gets to my pregnant hungry belly… Got another driver. She called me at 8:06PM and said that she picked up a food but it was very light. She asked what was inside and if anything was missing, they said its only soup there, no chicken lettuce wrap. They told the uber driver that they refund me for it and will call me later. No call, not explaining on what happened. I called… a line was busy every single time I called. Very frustrated!
