Papa J's Pizzeria & Diner — Restaurant in Homestead Township

I didn’t take the owner’s offer for a meal on them, but we ordered a take out pizza on Saturday 4/26 at 8:20 pm. The girl on the phone was friendly and told me our pizza and cheese bread would be ready in 20 minutes. When we arrived 25 minutes later, they told us there was no order in their computer for us. She acted as if she remembered the call, but said “we’ve had so many people answering the phone, it must’ve got missed.” There were no other customers, although another take out customer arrived and they had her order ready. They made our pizza, but it wasn’t up to the standard I used to have for your food. Burned toppings and greasy is not a good pizza. Shame on me for repeating the mistake I made 2 weeks ago. I will never come back. The bar in Honor makes good pizza and from now on I’ll get it there.

I went for dinner at 5:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon. My grandson & I ordered the soup/salad/pizza buffet. It was always great before, but not today. The salad bar was wilted and needed to be refreshed. The soups looked like they’ve been in the same pots for days. The only pizza on the buffet (pepperoni only) was burned. The floor staff seemed to be wandering around without any direction. I asked if there would be other pizza besides pepperoni only and the server first told me yes, then told me the kitchen told him they only do pepperoni for the buffet. It wasn’t that way last time I had the buffet; there were several pizzas available and more fresh pies coming out regularly. The place was not all that busy, I felt ignored but that is not reasonable thinking I'd say understaffed is most likely the answer, wate staff is very nice. It took 10 min just to get a drink and menu, ok well that can happen but if not being critical service is often prompt and delightful at Papa J's. The restaurant is really neatly decorated like a retro modern 1950"s dinner interesting to look at all the Kool paintings and things people looking all around tv on although watching sealions give birth on the Discovery Channel is not the best dinning entertainment. I ordered biscuits and gray 3 eggs hash browns and bacon. At 9:49 arrived at 10:21 so approximately 30 min the table that arrived 10 min after my arrival was served first well ok what can you do but twiddle your thumbs I have found reacting to such things is fruitless Nothing good ever happens with negative confrontational aggressive behavior. The food looks ok. Hash browns raw inside. Biscuits and grave are extremely good light Biscuits and the gravy is tasty and light and creamy 😋 great combo, eggs over easy nice jod there and bacon crisp 5 peaces ok, all in all food is good would be great but undercooked hash brown got Papa J's a good instead of exclent grade restaurant is nice wate staff is under staffed price high. Was my first time going g to this diner. I go in, wait in line a few minutes to order a half a sub, chip and a drink. About 10 minutes later my co worker shows up and places her order for a personal pizza. 30 minutes later he comes with her pizza and not my order. he tells me mine should be right up. At this point my lunch hour is almost over and ask for it to go since I’ve ran out of time for lunch. finally get my lunch, take it to work to try eating in my last couple minutes, open the sub and it’s full of peppers (which I asked to be left off). So I package it back up to take back and get a new sub. At this point I should’ve just got a refund as the new sub had so much pepperoni on it that’s all you could taste. He did offer me an ice cream while I again waited or possibly a discount on my next visit if I wanted.
