This place was probably the worst experience ever! Let me just start off with my husband and I are an interracial couple. We came here for my sisters bday dinner and drinks, Saturday. The drinks we ordered from the bar took about 25 to 30min (if not more) to come out. The server said the reason for this was ALL the bartenders called off all in the same night š¤. They took a card to put on file and charge a āpre-authorizationā charge, which is fine. They pre-charged me around $31. Then when we ordered our dinner, my husband ordered the Italian salad for two main reasons. The 1st reason is he has a gluten allergy and the 2nd reason is he was excited to try the salad dressing which was a honey vinaigrette. He asked the server for a little extra dressing, when his food came out they brought 2 soup bowls of dressinš«” then we realized it was the wrong dressing (it was ranch) so when she finally came back over he asked her for the dressing that came with the salad, the server said āoh I thought because you were. (then stopped what she was saying, I think because she realized what she was saying out loud) nevermind Iāll just get the other dressingā. We were confused and looked at each other and said was she about to say because youāre black?! She never came back with the other dressing and seemed like she was avoiding us at that point! She came back over about 45min later said she was ready to close us out!? (I thought that would be our choice, but ok) I wasnāt sure if I wanted to order another drink, she said well I can out the drink in and then you can close out?!? So thatās what she did put my drink in then handed me the card reader to finish the close out! Mind you our full party was still ordering and drinking! So why did we NEED to close out when no one was ready to go yet!? Anyways we just left early (we felt unwelcome at this point) Fast forward Tuesday I received a text alert from my bank that I was charged $91 from the restaurant? My bill was $122 which was fully charged on Monday and the $31 fell off. I called the restaurant ALL day, I get they donāt open until 4pm but do they not have prep work?? They finally answered the phone at 4:45, I was explaining to the (I think) the host and that my account was charged again for a totally different amount from my bill or the pre-auth. She kept cutting me off stating the bank puts the hold so I need to call my bank not them. I tried to explain to her again that the charge was ran that morning not Saturday and it was for a different amount than what my bill was and from the original pre-authorization charge. She continued to cut me off saying I need to call my bank!?(I already did that and my bank told me to call them and if they donāt fix it they will dispute the charge on there end) I asked if she was a manager she said no, I asked to speak to the manager because I didnāt think she was understanding me. This girl āforgotā to put me on hold and the started to talk shit about me to the so called manager (Mary) the host was mocking me and saying I donāt understand anything. The manager (Mary) said oh great I get to deal with one of these tonight!?Like are you kidding me?!Then she puts me on hold (Iām assuming she was ātaking me off holdā because she didnāt realize I wasnāt on hold from the beginning) She looked up my card information and said the only charge she sees is the $122 and a charge from December? I was never there in December Saturday was my 1st and last time Iāve ever been there! I asked her what the charge was from December? She did not tell me the amount of the charge. She just went back and forth with and kept stating itās a bank issue not them and that I would need to take it up with the bank. Needless to say we got nowhere and I ended up contacting my bank. The more people I talk to that was in our dinner party, were also charged on Tuesday for other unknown charges. I would NEVER step foot in that place ever again after the way we were treated and over charged. Itās sad that they would have workers that treat their guests with such disrespect and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCorbeau in Homewood is an absolute gem! A few friends and I decided to pop in on a Wednesday afternoon during happy hour, and it turned into a delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambience was warm and inviting ā a perfect spot for a relaxed catch-up.
We were pleasantly surprised by the interesting and varied menu. We shared a delicious flatbread, a hearty and flavorful meatball dish, and a fantastic pastrami sandwich. Everything was incredibly tasty and perfectly portioned.
The wine wall was a highlight! We were initially a bit intimidated, thinking it would be pricey, but we were wrong. The selection was impressive, and the prices were very reasonable. We even got to sample about half a dozen different wines, which made for a fun and engaging afternoon. It was a great way to discover new favorites.
While the music was a tad loud for easy conversation at times, the overall atmosphere was fantastic. The owner himself came over to introduce himself, which was a lovely touch, and the entire serving staff was incredibly friendly and attentive.
Corbeau is definitely a place we'll be returning to. If you're looking for a relaxed wine bar with great food, a fantastic wine selection, and a welcoming atmosphere in Homewood,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've always supported and promoted The Edge because I genuinely love the place and want to see it thrive. Thatās why I was so disappointed during our recent visit. After spending $70 on just 2 margaritas and 1 personal sized pizza, we were told we couldnāt have complimentary tap water and had to pay an additional $10 for three bottled waters.
I donāt mind paying premium prices at high-end restaurants with an upscale atmosphere, but The Edge is supposed to be a casual, family friendly spot and the experience, service, and quality didnāt match the elevated pricing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant...
