We ordered takeout as an easy weekday meal from Hawaii Kai's Greek Marina, potentially from the grumpy, not-happy-see-a-customer owner. We wished we hadn't.
We ordered at the counter: souvlaki's, two chicken and a shrimp, as well as two tabouleh salads. Insanely, $90! (I included a $5 tip in that because I used to work in restaurants.) We waited just outside the restaurant, where we could see the counter. We were not given an anticipated wait time, and had to check twice to make sure our take out order hadn't been forgotten. After 25-30 a second man checked with us and went back in to see if our food was done. Feel like we had to advocate to get our meal order. Finally, he came out with our meal.
When we got home we discovered a lamb instead of the ordered shrimp. The taboulehs were watery and almost exclusively tomato and onion with almost no bulgur. The meat, especially the chicken was dry and hardly edible. I received tzatiki sauce (on the not-ordered lamb meal) but the other entrees included straight mayonaise! But hey, it's white, right?! Perhaps their dine-in exerience (would have to fix the incorrect meal, and maybe not have been under heat lamps for five-ten minutes).
No kamaima discount.
I followed up with the Egyptian (not Greek) owner and suggested that since I ate the lamb (after a twenty minute ride home, hungry) that he could not refund my card for one of the meals, as requested. When I mentioned that he sent mayo instead of tzatiki for the salads he said, "That will happen." He offered A free baklava next time I came in, which clearly won't happen.
Very disappoining experience, for a lot of money. Would suggest taking the trip to Honolulu's Kahala Olive Tree: high-quality food, accountability of ordering, friendly staff--cash only. Where's Gordon Ramsey when...

It truly ranks in my top three favorite Greek eateries, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone seeking authentic, flavorful, and memorable Greek dining experiences.
From the moment you step inside, the warm, inviting atmosphere transports you straight to Greece. The staff is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, always eager to recommend their signature dishes. The menu offers a wonderful variety of traditional Greek classics—each dish bursting with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. The moussaka is rich and savory, the souvlaki perfectly grilled with a smoky char, and the lamb chops are absolutely delicious—tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection, truly a highlight of the meal.

Read moreWell... it's a Greek place run by Egyptians. That should give you the light clue that you won't find here the real Greek food but rather an infused one.
Location is great but the place is worn out ( to not use harsher language).
Their hummus is blunt.. no flavor.Their dolmas are not greek but Egyptian style so you may not like them. Their falafel is quite raw on the inside but OK overall. Pita bread servings are incredible small.
It's a family run business with owner on site. Pretty curteous but short, which doesn't make for a great conversation unless you mirror him.
I believe that changing the name and making it an Egyptian food place along with revamping the menu and the building from scratch could do good to this bellow average now eatery. Hard task since it looks like it may be franchised.
Parking is so so... rather crowded and very, very narrow parking spaces.
P.S. across is a camouflaged Starbucks... just in case. No signs outside.....
