Jets Local Fast Food — Restaurant in Honolulu

It’s my first time eating here. What pleasant surprise! The dining room is clean and they have a pretty straight forward menu. The front cashier was a local Bruddah pretty much you should be fluent in pidgin English. I went straight for their specials for today I had Pastele stew plate and their Chopped cheese sandwich which is like a Philly cheesesteak sandwich but made with hamburger and a cheese sauce and came with fries. I was weaned on Pastele’s and pastele stew as a baby in Makawao, Maui so the idea behind pastele stew is when you eat it should take you into your deepest memories of pasteles where you’re found in the corner of the restaurant curled over in the fetal position longing for your Porto Rican Gramma even though you’re full blood Japanese. I patronize this restaurant very often always ordering the same thing. One morning the owner decides to give me attitude and tells me that he doesn't open until 5:30 am even though another customer is already sitting in the restaurant and waiting for his order.

One week later I place a phone order at 5:24 am and arrive at the restaurant at 5:29 am. After paying the owner, he again gives me attitude and tells me that I just called and that I'm "rushing" him even though there's no one else in his restaurant. He then walks away mumbling to himself. At this point, I walked out of his restaurant and told him he can keep my money. I go to my car and he follows me and returns my money. I try to give him back the money and told him that I'll never patronize his restaurant again and he says "it's okay".

Wow! This place is great! Fast delicious food at a fair price. Staff is very friendly and attentative. I work nearby so I often take my lunch break here and chat with the nice Asian folks that own this quaint family business. My favorite is the spicy pork or beef stew. Gotta try this!!! They don't have a website so i follow them on Instagram @gotjets to see their daily specials. Make sure to call ahead for the specials because they run out quick!
