Wendy's — Restaurant in Honolulu

I'm editing my review because I finally had a chance to try Wendy's breakfast! It took it from a 3-star to a one. Let me explain our experience.

We rolled up to the menu, and all the food looks awesome. Seriously, my wife and I didn't know what to get. I finally settled on the breakfast baconator, a choc-frostyccino, and the season potatoes that come with, all large because treat yo-self. My wife gets a sausage egg and cheese, potatoes, and OJ. This is about to be good. We're excited. We've seriously been looking forward to this for months because we've never had their breakfast and just never found an excuse to go.

Get to the window, OJ is just what you can buy at your normal gas station or whatever, it's bottled. Cool, doesn't bother us. Frostyccino next, looking okay. Food comes out in bags and we leave. My wife put the straw in my drink because she didn't want the paper to get soggy, thanks boo. Love you. Paper straws too, so props for getting rid of a massive amount of plastic, really happy to see Wendys doing that.

We get on Nimitz, I take my first sip, you know the one, you try a new drink and you know it's about to smash every expectation and you're just thrilled! It certainly smashed every expectation, just not the way I'd hoped. It could barely be classified as coffee. Chocolate was a myth, the coffee reminded me of the sludge that they serve the monsters in Monster's Inc., it was just that terrible. I could wax eloquent about this thing, but I won't waste my time or yours. Well, the rest of the breakfast is about to smash, so I'll just chalk it up as a bad day for the frostyccino.

We get home, get our food and settle down on the couch. Wife hands me my sandwich (remember, she got the sausage and I got the baconator) and what a surprise, they both have bacon. She got the wrong sandwich. Ah, well, fast food, it happens sometimes. Just a bad morning for Wendys. We're already home, so we're not about to drive all the way back to change it.

I take a bite even though it's slathered with what looks like mayo, and I'm not going to lie, it's not great. It's like someone was trying to overcompensate for the lackluster food by drowning it in whatever artificial flavor they could.

Seasoned potatoes? Pretty dope honestly. Great flavor, good crunch, a little warm, but I didn't think they would cook them while we were there, it's fast food.

Wife tried a bite of her wrong sandwich, and immediately made a disgusted noise, wrapped it back up, and put it back in the bag. Safe to say she didn't like her food either...

I know this is a fast food place, but come on. You're better than this. And you, whoever is reading this by this point, deserve better than this atrocity. Lunch-dinner is pretty good, especially the...

UPDATE: Returned and food is consistently better. There's been a staff turnover for the better. Would love a Coca-Cola product touch screen machine, but in light of increased food quality, this is not a deal-breaker/rating downgrade. Wait time is reduced and continues to be reduced. Food quality continues to be consistent and much better than even a few months ago. Good value for the money. Healthy options. Excellent customer service in general at this time.

Even a double stack has better quality veg, and the salads are pretty amazing for fast food. You're not going to see this at McDonald's, Burger King, Arby's... Check out the pictures.

Parking can be a problem only during lunch time as the Harley-Davidson next door is renovating and work trucks take up some of the lot, but it seems to be relatively temporary and clientele is pretty transitory. High turnover. You'll get seating and parking.

Accepts credit cards.

Diaper changer in the women's restroom. Kid friendly, much cleaner than the nearest Wendy's out in Aiea or Pearlridge area.

Much better customer service and food prep in the last few weeks. Appears to have gone through a customer service revamp. Time to receive food has been reduced, quality of food has increased, and customer service in general seems better. We were checked on even after we were seated and having our food, which was a pretty awesome surprise. Not sure what they've been doing the last few weeks, but we like it and we will be back. See the pictures for proof - - previous meals have forgotten items or not been this quality. Salad today was exactly the same as one that ordered a few weeks ago, and was in a different, better category altogether. Increased rating, but reserving 5th star just in case this up trend is a fluke. I hope not though--this is the nearest Wendy's to town and would love for the quality to be this way all the time. Have had to pick-up food delivery orders from here multiple times and every time I do it’s horrible. Tonight was probably the worst though. Every time I get to the counter to pick up an order, I have to stand at the counter for about 10min before anyone even acknowledges me. Tonight there was a line and I was told the order wasn’t ready yet - understandable they were busy. I waited 30min for this customer’s order. While they’re making my order the manager looks more confused than anything and she kept getting pulled away which made the wait even longer. Another staff member kept on walking around in circles near the front but wasn’t actually helping anyone or doing anything, she looked like she was trying to pretend to be busy. Customers were actually having to call to her to get her to acknowledge them, and then she would blankly stare at them when being asked a question before wandering around the front pretending to try and find an answer but then never actually resolving the issue for them.

I finally got the customer’s order and they ordered a drink. I take the cup to the fountain to see that 2/3rds of the drink options are out, so I had to call the customer to figure out a substitute. I then go to put the lid on the drink to find that they are all out of the right sized lids. By this point there are other customers crowding the counter with staff ignoring them. It took me 10min to get the staff’s attention again to get a lid. Overall, the ordeal took 40min just to get one small order picked up.

If this was a one off, I would have been more forgiving; but it is like this every time I go there. Tonight there were multiple patrons being ignored and we were all getting frustrated. Staff ignore customers and seem irritated that they’re there. I absolutely hate having to go to...
