My boyfriend and I recently moved to the area and decided to try out Granite Tapas & Cocktail Lounge. As there are no other restaurants like this in Hooksett I was excited to go. The food was good, but nothing special. If my review was based on food alone I would have given 3 stars. The issue was how our dining experience was handled by the owner/management (Jamie and Matt). We went on a Saturday evening around 6:00. It was busy, but not at full capacity. We were seated right away with no wait time (I would rather be given a wait time if the restaurant can’t handle the volume). The server greeted us, took our drink order, and asked if we would be eating tonight. We told her yes and ordered a dish from the tapas menus as an appetizer informing her we would be ordering an entree later as well. The drinks were ok, again nothing special. About 15 minutes later the server came by and asked us if we would like to put in our entree as the restaurant had gotten busy and she didn’t want us to wait a long time. We said thanks for letting us know and put in our order. We still had not received our appetizer. About 15 minutes later an employee brought me my dinner. Shortly after, our server realized that we had not received our appetizer yet and my boyfriend did not have his meal either. At this point she offered to take the appetizer off the bill and still bring it out or pack it Togo for us. We politely declined saying would just take our entrees. She came back with the appetizer a few minutes later and asked if we were sure we didn’t want it because it was ready. We said sure because it was already at our table. My boyfriend had still not received his meal. She said his meal was being plated and would be out very soon. About 10 minutes later our server came to our table with my boyfriends meal. She said that someone else said they brought to us. I would like to say that I understand tapas restaurants serve food as it is prepared. However, we did not only order tapas. We ordered entrees. If we had ordered strictly tapas items I would not have expected to receive our meals at the same time. When we received our check the appetizer (tapas plate) was still on our bill. We asked our server about it and she told us that the manager said because we ate it we needed to pay for it. Paying for it would have been fine if we haven’t been told that it would be taken off to remedy the situation. We gave her payment and when she returned she took it off the check but told us that it may come out of her earnings for the night. That is not ok with me. We tipped her 20 percent plus the amount of the appetizer. We were polite throughout our interactions and the poor girl was shaking. This shows me that the management at this restaurant is very poor. My boyfriend and I had discussed the bad experience while we waited but we were impressed that they handled it well and agreed to try again on a slower night. It is obvious now that the only person who has any customer service is the server. After the way it was truly handled by management we will never be back. The manager did not come talk to us once. If they were not the only restaurant like this in Hooksett I wholeheartedly believe they would be out...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised, and am super excited to finally have a Tapas restaurant, locally, that actually understands the concept of Tapas, and really delights you with their amazing food.
If sharing small plates, or just having the ability to share items with a group is up your alley, this is your spot.
The vibe is very rustic, modern. The drinks are great, and they have a creative drink menu. They have tables, a bar seating area, as well as smaller rooms with couches and tables to eat at.
The food is a very eclectic range of Tapas. All of the food was very fresh and beautifully presented. There were 4 of us and we ordered 5 dishes, plus desert. The slider trio was to die for. I highly recommend it! The marinated steak tips, with the deep fried lobster slaw was such a creative idea, I'd call it a Tapas version of surf and turf. There was such a large portion of the fried lobster and it was perfectly crispy and tasted amazing. The Bulgogi lettuce wraps, were a fantastic concept, and a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. I loved that you assemble them yourself. The Blue Cheese Fondue was a big hit with us, served with homemade potato chips that have a Cajun seasoning. We did the scallops on special, that were wrapped in bacon. The bacon was perfectly crispy, while still preserving the moist, delicate, perfectly cooked, scallop.
For desert we did the creme brule and cheesecake, which were also very good.
Our server was very attentive, and the Owner personally came over to the table, to ask how everything was. They were super nice and gave a very welcoming feeling.
It was a great food journey, which I love in a meal. We will for sure be returning, as there are still many items we'd...
Read moreI've been here a few times. Last time was a few months ago. It was so fantastic everything we had tasted so good. Raved about it to all our friends and family. Went there tonight for our anniversary. And immediately walked in sat down and given a clip board with pieces of paper for a menu. I was almost thinking of walking out for meals of 20 bucks a piece I expected a real menu (I could have sworn we had real ones last time). My wife orders a drink and it was so terrible we didn't drink it. But we ordered a few items pretzel, scallops, wellington bites, the salted caramel chicken.
The pretzel was decent not as good as last time. But the beer cheese was so gross we didn't eat it. It tasted like the cheese wiz out of a can. (last time we came it was fantastic)
The scallops were actually decent so that was good.
The wellington bites tasted like a pile of soggy dried steak. The breading was so undercooked and the beef was dry. The dipping sauce was a gravy not ajou like it says on menu.
The worst thing was the chicken. We just ended up eating one bite and throwing out the rest. They were skinny pieces of chicken. From before and now it was two different plates. The breading, the seasoning, and just taste was all different. Not in a good way.
Also ate a quarter of our meals with no plates so that was cool.
We walked in and out in 30min and paid over $100.
I'm really sad to see this place fall so bad down the scale. This place was really good at one point. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt of supply chain shortages. And tough times. But it will be a while before I go back.
I wish this place nothing...
