Duck Point Smokehouse Restaurant — Restaurant in Hoonah

Duck Point Smokehouse Restaurant was ill prepared to receive as many guests as it did!

We waited in line for a ridiculous amount of time to order a beer. Then again, we had to wait in a different (long) line for another ridiculous amount of time, to order food. . I honestly couldn’t believe the chaos and mismanagement that we experienced at this establishment.

On a sidenote; Cecelia (working the bar) was dealing with disgruntled customers the entire time that we were there, (she did so graciously). This poor employee was being chastised for the restaurant, running out of IPAs and APAs and and whatever else. The line would have moved more effectively had there been more people behind the bar. The only time we saw another employee, was when an older woman dropped by and emptied the tip container - a container that that *Cecelia had *earned by *herself. Cecelia was spectacular and the four of us in our party, hope she quits and finds a place that appreciates her.

I never give reviews usually but this time I will to express my disappointment regarding the service I received at Smoke Duck in Icy Strait Point. During my recent visit, I had to wait over one hour just for a burger meal, which I feel is unreasonably long.

While I understand that delays can happen during busy times, there was little communication or apology from the staff, which made the experience even more frustrating. They just told us that our receipt was gone which causes the delay. Their supervisor came into our table apologizing but not facing us which is more insulting.

Before I always recommend this restaurant to all crew in the cruiseline that im working with every time we visit icy straight point alaska but now I will never ever recommend or visit this restaurant anymore I felt like the staffs were racist first because we are asian second because they knew that we are also crew. We got the halibut sandwich and pizza both were amazing the pizza dough was thick and perfectly cooked the fish was very flavorful and tasty 👌. The sandwich was very tasty as well with a nice chuck of halibut and some veggies it was a perfect mix. It was perfect for me and my grandpa to split and we both love eating fish and it was delicious. The service was just as amazing my grandpa loves to ask questions and the guy who took care of us was very patient and informative response and friendly.
