Lil’ Gen’s Donuts — Restaurant in Hoonah

Atmosphere – 4/5 Lil Gen’s is a small shack located in the cruise-line tourist area of Hoonah. Despite a rainy day, the spot was bustling with visitors. The line was long but moved quickly, thanks to the efficient setup. It’s a fun, casual stop perfect for a quick treat while exploring.

Service – 4/5 The staff were friendly and worked quickly to serve the crowd. Even with the high traffic, everything was handled smoothly. A nice touch—there’s a military discount available, and proceeds go to the local Salvation Army to help support the village, which makes your purchase feel even more worthwhile.

Food – 4/5 The mini donuts are served hot and fresh, available in half-dozen or dozen portions with lots of flavor choices. We tried the blueberry flavor, and they were soft, warm, and absolutely delicious. When you order a dozen, you can choose two flavors. They also sell a small selection of drinks like Coke, Coke Zero, bottled water, hot chocolate, and coffee.

Final Thoughts: A great little gem in Hoonah. Warm donuts on a rainy day? Hard to beat. Definitely worth a stop if your cruise brings...

I had heard about this stand from various cruise blogs. I knew they had a large variety of interesting flavors to try as well. There was always a small line here but not bad. The employee was friendly. They also have a nice military discount. They have a whole lot of flavors. You can get ½ dozen, or one dozen. You can only split with two flavors if you get a dozen. Don’t worry, they are mini doughnuts so they are small and poppable. They came doused in flavored powdered sugar. We got the huckleberry and the apple cider. Both were very good. They were warm and hit the spot on a very rainy day in Icy Strait Point. Next time we come we will come back and try different flavors. It is something different to try...

This is a cute little shack off towards the back of the cannery. The employees are super friendly and happy to answer questions.

I would recommend a half dozen per person. My wife and I each got a dozen and it was too much for us. If you get a dozen you can get two flavors.

We got the Chocolate Espresso, the Chocolate Salted Caramel, the powdered sugar, and the regular Chocolate. All of them were nice but I enjoyed the Espresso the most.

Also, I’m not sure if it was an accident but they included a half dozen of Fruit Loop but we didn’t notice til we left.
