I came here hearing it was a cute place with decent food. The decor is in fact very cute, and we thought we had found a great new place to come for lunch.
However, the service and my interaction with the staff was literally THE WORST experience I have ever had at a restaurant.
When we were done I asked in a polite manner to the man taking our dishes if I could speak with the manager, over a question the bartender had not been able to answer about substituting an item. I did not raise my voice, I was not using a mean or rude tone, I was not in fact dissatisfied in any way at that point. This man told me that the manager was "on break." He was immediately defensive and rude without me even saying a single negative thing. When I pressed the matter, now because of his attitude, the story changed to the manager "was not here." He became highly agitated and still, I had not so much as raised my voice. The man then proceeded to accuse me of trying to not pay my bill which was so out of left field I was literally floored. He started yelling and, since the restaurant was mainly empty, the bartender came over to ask what was going on. It was at this point I decided to get my partner back from a phone call they were making outside on the patio, since I felt like he was being overtly aggressive and intimidating to me since I was a young woman. He RAN AFTER ME outside of the restaurant and told me he was going to call the police and make me pay the bill.
Well, I called the police myself, and needless to say I am reporting this person to the Hoover police, BBB, and CoC. Never in my life have I had someone be so blatantly aggressive and down right threatening. Over a $20 tab. This is ridiculous, appalling, and the people in charge of this place should be ashamed of themselves.
Be warned, do not go here! I came home today and immediately started making phone calls. Turns out several people have had complaints about the terrible staff who are aggressive and hostile because of the questionable neighborhoods near the place. I am posting this completely true account on every site, search engine, and blog I can find because this kind of this is inexcusable, and I would hate for someone else to have to go through this.
Shame on you, all of you. Worst experience I have ever had. Plus, the food, is...
Read moreMy husband & I went this past Tuesday. We'd been there once before several years ago when it first opened, and I couldn't remember why we never returned. Now I know. First off, I will say the inside decor is beautiful! And our waiter was very polite, if not quite attentive. We weren't extremely hungry. I just wanted a chalupa, and my husband wanted a couple of tacos, but they weren't listed. Nowhere on their menu do they have an "a la carte" menu, very odd! So we had to ask the waiter if we could order those. He said yes, but seemed a little confused. The food came pretty quickly, about the same as other Mexican restaurants. And the food was not bad at all. My husband enjoyed the cheese dip. Their chips are good, and the salsa is also good, if a little on the spicy side for my taste. And I must mention that they do have a very wide selection of cocktails. They have a separate drink menu with over half a dozen different margaritas (ranging in price from $6 - $15 each) as well as several other cocktails, and even a list of shots. But I probably wouldn't go back here because they are incredibly overpriced! Too expensive for a Mexican restaurant! The price for a small top shelf Margarita was between $10 - $15! (Depending on the alcohol used.) That's insane! And to top it off, it was nothing special. I had the Iguana Margarita. ($10, I believe?) Definitely not worth that price. I've had better tasting, less expensive top shelf margaritas at 2 of my favorite Mexican restaurants, Zapata's in Hoover and Habanero's in Alabaster. My husband had 2 shots of his favorite tequila, Tres Generaciones, $9 each. So overall, not a bad place to eat and drink. But for almost $50 before tip, I can think of other places I'd rather...
Read moreI would not recommend this place the worst service ever! if I can rate a zero I would I went here for Cinco de Mayo I was super excited but it was so busy in there but our waiter was very very rude I guess I offended him because I was on my phone handling some business I apologized to him but he just would not let it go! he still had a attitude at that point I should’ve got up and left but I wanted to enjoy this holiday after 30 minutes we still haven’t even received our water but we are seeing other people that sat down after us getting their drinks and food 🤨 so we ordered margaritas and cheese dip that was supposed to come out before our actual meal came out but The cheese dip never came the margaritas came last when my food came my quesadilla was soggy wet when the waiter came over there and asked was everything OK I was not rude to him all I told him was my quesadilla was soggy I just wanted him to take it back so they could fix it he flipped out when I tell you the most embarrassing thing ever He was telling us that he was not going to fix it! it was Cinco de Mayo he was not doing anything if we didn’t like it we could pay our check and leave! Or he was calling the police so you want me to pay for something that I’m not going to eat and you refuse to fix it! it was so embarrassing and he was very racist it’s a sad thang We finally talked to the manager and...
