My daughter and I entered and took a table. Unbeknownst to me this was an order at the counter affair. Several minutes went by and several servers walked past before my daughter asked for a server. The girl was friendly enough and let us know to order at the counter. She did offer to bring us some menus to look at however. We settled on our meals and my daughter went to the counter to order. Not much enthusiasm from the staff but we placed our orders and got our drinks. About 15 minutes later we were brought our food and asked if we needed anything else. We said, "thank you, no" and that was the last time we were checked on. My daughter returned the menus a little while later and was midsentence to ask if the staffer would take them from her. She just shuffled a bit to the side and nodded to the stack. Admittedly I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting for about 40 bucks with tip - yes my daughter selected 15% at the kiosk - the lowest amount other than no tip. I probably would have selected no tip and then tipped them at the table, but alas she tried to be charitable. Drink service was on us but we could return to refill them. The food quality was sufficient though the burgers were very small. I do have to say that the sweet potato fries were very good. They came out hot and fresh. I tried my daughter's tater tots and found them to be a bit salty. My daughter said that they were very salty. The atmosphere was nice enough – casual but some interesting things to look at the wall and a WNBA game on a corner TV. There were a few raised tables which I like. The thermostat was set at 71° but it was 74° and a bit hot inside for my taste. I would give Whiskey Foxtrot Burger Dive about 3 1/2 stars overall. Not a bad place for a juicy burger but don't expect...
Read moreNo so good first impression! I visited this location for the first time tonight after passing by multiple times and hearing good things from my sister. Upon walking in, the restaurant has a dive bar type atmosphere with great lighting. We were greeted almost immediately by a young lady (maybe 16 or 17) to take our orders (we got our food to-go). As we were waiting for our food (I got the cowgirl burger and tator tots and my sister got the queso blanco burger and an apple hand pie), a young lady wearing a light green sweatshirt and the young lady who look our orders were behind the register, then disappeared into the kitchen. While they were in the kitchen, another young man walked in and went straight to the kitchen (not sure if he worked there); it was at this point that my sister and I, as well as another couple sitting towards the back of the restaurant, could hear arguing in the kitchen and someone began yelling: "you need to leave! No, you need to leave! Right now! Leave!" The young man who randomly walked in, then walks back out of the kitchen and goes to another part of the restaurant. The food-both of us really enjoyed our burgers, my sister said her pie was good, and although my tots were cold when I get them, I really enjoyed the seasoning on them. I understand that the ones working the front of the house are teenagers and the restaurant wasn't busy at the time, but that does not excuse the behavior that was displayed tonight, especially during working hours with customers in the building. We all want to have fun at work, and I enjoy watching people enjoy their jobs and have fun, but this was a bit much. There needs to be some training on professionalism. I will go back, just maybe not on a Saturday during...
Read moreThey are just getting started, so as with any new restaurant they are getting their feet under themselves. I ordered each of the sides: hand-cut fries, Mac and Cheese and "Tater Salad". Hand-cut fries were great and very reminiscent of the first Bessemer McDonald's in the 1970's. Yep, McDonalds in the ole days could have colloquial favorites. Those great fries in time disappeared in compliance with franchise rules. The Mac and Cheese was spot on description. They large elbow-like macaroni with cheddar cheese melted on them. This is not your nanna's/me maw's creamy, eggs, milk/cream, rich, hot bubbly gooey comfort food Mac and Cheese. Closer to Paleo-like or Keto version. The potato salad was heavy on small, seemingly identically cube-shaped industrial cut potatoes, mayo only and some relish. No mustard, egg, onions, celery, celery, paprika sprinkled or any other of the typical southern condiments familiar to a west-central Alabamian. As my dear late father would have named this salad, "Aunt (you put in the name)'s potato salad (we all had a Yankee aunt that an uncle met in NY as he returned home from 'the War', WWII). She always tried her best, but again it just wasn't Me-Maws comfort 'tater salad'.
So now you are asking "Why a 5"? Because I did not Google "where is the best Mac and Cheese, Tater Salad or hand-cut fries in Hoover". I Googled "best cheese burger in Hoover," I did not find only the best hamburger in Hoover, I dare say I found the best hamburger in Alabama!!! Welcome to the neighborhood and look forward to many, many great burgers and hot...
