When roses was just a small taqueria, it was a 5 star experience. Owner was a pleasure, their tacos and simple dishes were great, should have stuck with that, but now that they are a large restaurant it’s become a poor experience.
First off when you enter, more often than not you have no idea if you’re suppose to wait to be seated or just go sit down it’s like there are no employees no signs no anything.
2nd prices have more than doubled and the serving sizes are small compared to places like Mazatlan. Granted Mazatlan is tourist food but you get double for cheaper and it’s good food. The other authentic small Mexican and Salvadorian restaurants and food trucks are better priced.
We paid 60.00 for the birra taco plate, 1 burrito (which the burrito was not made how it was ordered) and a torta and 2 sodas. Not worth the small serving sizes.
The main reason I won’t go back, is the 4 small black hairs that were under my torta that I didn’t notice until the sandwich was gone. That’s gross. I couldn’t tell if they were human or rat.
Also the owner is now very short and seems mostly annoyed, which is probably why one of the orders was wrong. I was so angry didn’t bother complaining I just paid and left, the food, serving sizes and prices and customer service have become unacceptable.
I had eaten there for years when it was a taqueria. I ate twice there now it’s a restaurant and I won’t go back. Its...

Great value and excellent portion size of core menu staples with fresh made beans and sauce more than make up for a bit of a limited menu. Carne, pollo, light fluffy rice and rich beans form the core of a regular stopping point for a meal most people don't finish in a single sitting.
You won't find albondigas, tamal, or carnitas, but depending on the availability of fresh meat tacos de lengua, or fresh sopes and flavorful double-corn tortilla tacos have found a good place here in Hoquiam.
It's the traditional "hole in the wall" location right in downtown that reminds me of Mission/Excelsior in San Francisco, and while not quite a taste of home, scratches the itch frequently.
Thank you to the friendly staff, for keeping it simple, reliable,...
Read moreOverall this was a nice meal. I had the pollo en mole. The flavor profile of the mole wasn't what expected but was house made and very tasty. The rice in the rice and beans was delicious. My wife found the puffy tacos a bit to spicy but she's a bit sensitive so I gave them a try and I thought it was quite good. Good leftover lunch for me!
The service was good and friendly. The owner even came over to the table for a nice chat and to make sure we had enjoyed ourselves.
The ambiance did lack, but it was very clean. I did take a peek into the lounge and it didn't seem finished. Rose's hasn't been open at this location for very long so it might be a work in process.
I plan to come back to try the barria which has good reviews.
I would definitely recommend you make a stop and support...
