I just went in this morning right as they opened hoping to go somewhere nicer than Denny's. Our food took a very long time to get to us though we were 2nd in line coming in. We took a few min to know what we wanted. I kept staring at the waitress to get her attention and took us prob 20 min to get her to come take our orders. We got our food finally at 1045 and the eggs were so runny that the egg white was only 1/4th cooked. Looked perfect on top but when you break it open looked like cottage cheese. The toast and bacon was the only thing good. The potato's were half cooked. I ate a couple of them and chose not to finish. I asked for my meal to be refunded. My mom's was the same way but she was trying to be nicer about it. I asked for hers to be refunded by another waitress and even was willing to show the food to them. The waitress from our table quickly came in and said I'll take care of that and then charged me $28. I asked for my Mom's order to be refunded and she refused. I I went to the car and then came back to speak with the manager. She refused to let me speak to the manager and said you didn't have to eat it. Well we only ate a couple potato's and a couple bites of our eggs and toast and 1 bacon slice. I was hopeful things would get better and maybe it was just 1 potato that was raw because that happens when I am cooking at home but it was all of them. There menu had only uppy stuff and no actual normal breakfast meals. I'd never recommend going there. I feel so ripped off. They don't know how to do customer service well at least not the waitress I had. I am so angry. I would have been fired on the spot if I treated my customers that way. The customers are always right is what I've been thought doing food service. They could have dissected the whole order. I had a gut feeling this was a bad place to eat. . The moment I walked in they didn't have normal foods to eat for breakfast. It was so stressful just trying to order anything. My daughter was happy with her pancakes but man oh man once we got our food and they heard something they didn't wanna here. I apologized so much and said I am not trying to be aKaren but how will they know the cooks not doing good unless they are told. Save your time and don't go there in the morning of Wednesday. They need a new cook and more friendly staff. The girl that was taking our order was ok but never even smiled unless I reassured her that I know it was not her fault. Not everyone can afford to just throw money away like that. I never ever have taken my Mom out to eat before because she lives 4 hrs away from me. This was the first time trying to treat her to something special. This was the worst experience ever!!!!! Denny's is...
Read moreThere is not much in Hoquiam, WA. I find it a sleepy, depressed kind of town, with a side of grunge. I can't help it. I find it a place I don't particularly want to go to often, except for the fact that it is the home to one of the best little restaurants in the area: Brunch 101. I've been here a few times, and this place does not disappoint! From the friendly service, to the cute atmosphere, to the most incredible food! The outside doesn't look like much, but looks are deceiving! (Hmmmm, maybe Hoquiam isn't as grungy as i thought...?) This visit I decided to try the Chicken and Waffles with Thai Syrup, which is a dish I have been wanting to try for a long time. I usually get the Monte Cristo with its Carrot Cake Jam and a special request for a side of their Thai Syrup. (*side note: whatever you order, ask for a side of this syrup. It truly is amazing. I would take a bath in it, if it wasn't so sticky!!) I have to say, Chicken and Waffles has cleverly and deliciously nudged their way to the top of my favorite dish at Brunch 101. It was sublime. Excellent crunch to the moist and perfectly fried savory chicken thigh, paired with the sweet-spicy syrup soaked into the perfectly cooked waffle. Truly a joy on the taste buds. My friend got the Mother Clucker sandwich which consists of a Buttermilk Fried Chicken Thigh, Grilled Onion, pepperjack cheese, house pickle, topped with Country Gravy on a Brioche bun. (My friend substituted cheddar cheese instead of pepperjack). She was mmmmm'ing and aaaaaaa'ing throughout her dining experience. A home run for both of us! We both had anticipated bringing doggy bags home, but as we sat and chatted, and ate, and sipped our drinks and ate more and chatted more, we soon realized we were both past the point of doggy bags and powered our entire plates down! Not a drop left, and we both left feeling happy, but utterly stuffed. I don't normally do that, cause I hate the stuffed feeling, but goodness gracious, the food is so yummy, I couldn't stop myself! The chefs certainly know their food flavor profiles. Very creative, incredibly tasty, and utterly delicious. I forgot to take a photo of our Elvis Toast! Peanut butter, bananas, and bacon on sourdough with a drizzle of honey. Simple, yet so so sooooo good!! Perfect flavor profile! This is a joint that should be featured on the FoodTV Network with Guy Fieri! But, I think my review can't get any better than his! Get yourself up to Brunch 101 in Hoquiam, WA. They truly are a hidden gem worthy of...
Read moreBrunch 101 came to us highly recommended (by locals) and is an ABSOLUTE HIDDEN GEM!! The signage out front is discreet and could easily be missed if you didn't know it was there, but I promise, you'll be glad you found it! The food and beverages are masterfully crafted by the dynamic duo of owners who are truly an embodiment of the phrase "culinary genius". One a chef, the other a baker; both highly skilled in leading you tastebuds on a journey of euphoric bliss. Each dish we tried not only had a stunning visual presentation, but the attention to detail in the way the flavors complemented each other to create the most amazing full-circle pallette experience was phenomenal! The Chicken and Waffles is served topped with a maple syrup that has been infused with chili's to created a delicious mix of sweet with a touch of spice. We took a suggestion from one of the owner's and had a fried egg placed on top, which I highly recommend. The plate was garnished with a house made pickled veggie mix that was not too tangy, not too sweet, and just the right amount of crunchy. The Monte Christo sandwich caught me in a way I didn't expect. Normally an item that I have dismissed in the past as something that "wasn't really my thing"... until today. The unexpected star of the plate for me on this one was the side of carrot & pear jam (also house made) that came with it. When I say that the way that jam complemented that sandwich was a surprise, I mean it in the most delicious kind of way. In a way that has my mouth watering (yet again) as I write this. The "Bougie" Bloody Mary was also amazing! The glass came heaped tall with skewers packed with an assortment of various (house made) pickled veggies and peppers, bacon, and a large piece of freshly made grilled cheese sandwich. From the side of the glass hung an additional single shot glass of vodka to add just the right finishing touch to make the "Bougie" Bloody Mary THE PERFECT BRUNCH STARTER! This was not the first time we have been to Brunch 101, and will absolutely not...
