I was reading reviews as I waited for my food and saw a handful of very nasty remarks and experiences (most from about 5 years ago). As far as recent reviews everything seemed fairly positive so I wasn't too worried.
The restaurant itself was very quaint and quiet. The whole time I was seated there were only two tables at any time (myself included). It seemed very clean and comfortable. Not too bright or dark for lighting.
I started with an egg roll appetizer which came with 3 egg rolls cut in half. They looked different than I've ever seen before. Almost looked like a sausage link stuffed in there like a pig in a blanket, but tasted just like any other egg roll. I was not disappointed.
The waitress was a young gal who was very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed without feeling overbearing or "fake" like she was saving face because she's at work. She seemed genuine and gave the place a welcoming atmosphere.
After my egg rolls I indulged in a bowl of egg flower soup which only comes in one size (a big bowl) because each batch is made fresh per order. I absolutely loved this and decided it was worth roughly $8 to take home and enjoy later.
I kid you not when I say it was the BEST egg flower soup I have ever had. Everywhere I have ever gone in the past had decent egg flower soup, but I always felt the need to add soy sauce. Not here. It was served steaming fresh and flavorful. Very glad I decided to order a bowl.
By the time I had decided I love the soup my main dish had come out. I had a "make your own combo" with pork lo mein, bbq pork, and pork fried rice. The plate was just under $14. It felt very reasonable for the portions.
The lo mein was so savory I fell in love immediately. The bbq pork felt familiar and I enjoyed it, but not as much as the lo mein.
The only thing that felt lacking by the time I was finished was my pork fried rice, but it is rice. Rice is rice. I can't say I ever expect much from rice as it is plain by nature. The bbq pork garnish definitely helped. I guess the reason I wasn't impressed with the rice is because the rice itself just felt a little too mushy. I suppose I expected something different and so I set myself up for that one. Stupid expectations 😂
Overall I am very pleased with the service, prices, and product.
My meal was very satisfying and filling. My experience was welcoming and my server was kind. My bill was as expected (I practically ordered enough food for two people). I would definitely return if I were to find myself on this side of the state again.
Thank you for...
Read moreHORRIBLE SERVICE AND VERY CONDENSINGCOMMENTSAND UN PROFESSIONALWAY OF HANDLING NORMAL RESTAURANTCONCERNS. The owner or manager was not very respectable. We show up after calling and they told us it was a "busy day" and are out of almost half of their already small menu.I ordered the special, Then when the food came out my chicken chow mein had 2 or 3 pieces of chicken in it at the most. I then asked to speak to the owner, she came over to the table and I respectfully told her of my observation and she then went on a speel that "THIS IS THE GOLDEN DRAGON" we don't do business like that. And gave me some excuse about how she portions the chicken ... and also said we don't do business with people like this. After that I was so discussed that she literally laughed at me and actually gave me the idea to give them a review. She was absolutely horrible restaurant operator and an even worse person.I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED THAT NO ONE EVER GOES TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. WORST SERVICE EVER.... (the waitress was very hospitable and provided great service) just want to make sure that was said I don't feel it's fair everyone gets bad rep for...
Read moreHello Golden Dragon! My husband and I stopped in after our very spontaneous decision to drive down to Ocean Shores and all the back north to Blaine in the same day. After walking on the beach and not wishing to deal with the crowds, we packed up and started driving back. When we spied the Golden Dragon and saw that it was open we took our chance. Visually, 10/10. There were so many little details to discover and some touches that I want to add to my own decorations at home. The food was phenomenal. We had freshly fried shrimp that were cooked to perfection and hand made dumplings for our appetizers. I am not exaggerating when I say that I would happily drive 4 hours back down to Hoquiam just for those dumplings. Since we got a little soaked at the beach, the pho was too tempting to resist and it was wonderful. I want to extend a huge thank you to the hostess and the owner who came out and chatted with us, your food is scrumptious and we can't wait to come back. -...
