Extremely slow!!! We have stopped here a few times with mixed reviews. After tonight, we probably won't stop here for food again. I understand they were fairly busy but, it was ridiculous! 4 of us arrived a little before 8:00 PM to treat my husband for Father's day. We ordered cheese sticks and sandwiches almost right away. He ended up leaving without even getting to eat because the appetizer (cheese sticks) took over 1 1/2 hours, coming out at 9:37! We all would have left earlier but we were assured a few times that it would not be much longer. We ended up asking them to box the sandwiches we ordered and just get it to go. It was almost 10:00. They said they would give us a discount to "make it right". But they only offered to take $6 off. I thought they would take 1 meal off at a minimum and would have actually expected more like 25% off to show that he cared. Less than 10% seems to say β€œwe realize it was bad, but that’s your problem, not ours ”. This must happen fairly often because my daughter heard the man in the kitchen say that that is what they offer everybody for these issues. Maybe repeat business is not important to them since it’s a bit of a tourist town. I should have just told them to keep the 4 sandwiches, paid for the drinks and appetizer and left. By the time we left with the boxed food, we did not even really want it any more because it was so late. I wish they had at least put the gravy on the side of the fried chicken sandwiches when packing them to go so the chicken might remain a little crispy. But they boxed it with gravy on it. So, we ended up with soggy sandwiches and cold fries when we finally got home around 11:30, thanks to the slow service.. If we had just been told they were way behind we could have made other choices and tried them another time. Iron Horse Tavern was open and usually has good service. Next time we will go there or go on to the next town. They did end up taking 2 drinks off the bill (still not much) but this was not how we wanted to end the day and it left us frustrated. It is a cute little spot and has a deck overlooking the water. The food might have been nothing exceptional but fine if we could have gotten it in time to eat it there. If you like beer, they have lots of options. So, it has some potential but consider the service and time needed to eat here. If you just want to get some drinks or if you have plenty of time and nothing else you need to do, it...

Probably the worst experience I have ever had. We were seated pretty quickly which was cool, but every waitress they had ignored our presence for about 30 minutes. It was fine at this point because we realized they were pretty busy. When we finally got menus and ordered drinks the waitress took about 15 minutes just to get our drinks so we went ahead and ordered food and the wait began. We watched the place literally empty out and refill, the couple beside us was sat about an hour into our wait and they received their menus and drinks within 5 mins, then their appetizer and within 20 minutes they had their food. We watched other customers get their food served to them that came after us. Our waitress came and dropped off the appetizers and didn't come back. We sipped on our drinks and waited. An hour and 40 minutes of waiting, our waitress came out and said that she could see our ticket and that our food wouldn't take much longer. We joked about the wait time and she scoffed and "The ticket shows of how long it's been", which was a little confusing? But whatever, we continued to wait. We finally got our food after sitting for an hour and 50 minutes. We were pretty tired after driving most the day and a little frustrated, so we asked for to go boxes. The waitress just came off so rude. It was just super unwelcoming and unusual for a place that serves customers. We were never rude nor did we even complain. Also, I am aware of the sign on the door that said "please be patient.. food is being made fresh." But after waiting basically two hours, and watching the place empty and fill back up, was super disappointing. The food was pretty bad too. Chicken was burnt and dry, tasted like cardboard soaked in hot sauce. We really liked the feel of the place and had high hopes going in. Also, the no vaping on the deck, but you can smoke cigarettes? But hey I got to watch a movie and half on TV, I guess...

Folks I travel all over the mid-south and southern regions. Me and my wife has eaten at so called 5 star restaurants and even mom and pop dinners. But by far this little gem needs to be recognized. First the staff and I do mean all the staff are awesome. Very nice, accommodating, and always greets with a smile. It’s crazy how relaxed it is there especially Timothy. Secondly the food…. OMG those cheese sticks is godly. I’ve never had better anywhere and trust me I order cheese sticks everywhere that I go that sales them. Best hands down so do yourself a favor and get them every time. The bacon cheese burgers was unlike any burger I’ve had outside of my own home. I’m picky on my burgers but these was perfectly cooked, served on Texas toast which I’ve never had but will now from now on. I can’t say enough about these burgers. The fries seemed home cooked and they add the perfect amount of salt and the freshly cut fries is a well deserving and satisfying flavor that goes with the burgers perfectly. It’s hard to find a parking spot in this little town but I’m telling you now Hot Springs NC is the place to be for layed back feeling like your at home type of place. I travel now due to business through this little town every two months. Well I’ll be stopping at this little Tavern going to my destination and coming home. Love love love this place and the people. Please don’t ever change. By the way I seen a few reviews talking about the owner Timothy and the staff being rude. These people was great to us just like I stated above and the food…. Don’t believe these bad reviews about the food being cold or bad because it was so hot we had to wait to let it cook down. Stop by this Tavern and town folks on your way through I can promise ya that you will be glad you did. See you in September Spring Creek Tavern and I can’t wait and neither can my...

Fuel up and refresh at the Spring Creek Tavern. I came and ordered the Honey Habernero chicken wings - twice. They were so dang good. On our two trips, I was also able to try the fried okra, the cheeseburger, French fries, and the house salad. The menu is perfectly simple with plenty of on-point options to enjoy down in the holler of Hot Springs, NC with a front seat view of the picturesque Spring Creek, a tributary of the nearby French Broad River. Central in Hot Springs to many AirBnbs and outdoor activities such as the Hot Springs Rafting Co. and fishing and playing in the creek. Go ahead and order anything- it was all delicious. I gave the service a lower rating due to the fact she needed to replenish the beverages more often and was late with the condiments so the group had to stare at their hot cheeseburgers for several minutes before they could dig in. Other than that. On point.

This place is right on the creek, if you sit outside you can enjoy the scenery, sound of water running and if you are lucky can see the squirrels trying to get handouts. Our waitress was really nice. The food was tasty. The Bbq sauce with the chicken sandwich was tasty but a little more like vinegar. The Bbq sauce with the pulled pork was a little bit sweeter. Both had a little kick to them but were tasty. I def enjoyed the sweeter one a little more. We bought these and split them so we could try them both. Very filling, I ended up ditching the bun on the pulled pork and just ate the pork and Bbq sauce. The side serving was huge, we ended up not being able to finish even half of them. Definitely a shareable item. The moscato was slightly tart for my liking. But wasn't bad. This area is cute and walkable. Limited parking available.
