Ivey's Bistro — Restaurant in Houlton

I don't like to give bad reviews, especially when there are so many good reviews listed. I am guessing maybe they were having an off day or something. I would like to say something about the food but never got any. Arrived at 1130ish took a few minutes to get our drinks and order, about a half hour later got a second beer, still hopeful. 1250 still no food and waitress advised she didn't have any estimate of when we would get food. Left cash on the table to cover drinks and left. Feel bad for the waitress who was definitely upset about everything, but we weren't willing to wait any longer without an estimate of when the food was coming out. We travel on bikes to try different restaurants; this trip was about 90 miles. Ended up eating...

A quaint little diner situated just inside the hotel sharing the same name. Food was pretty good. There was a small bar that sat about 6 people or so. I felt like there were too many tables and chairs for such a small space; like the owner was trying to pack too many people into too small a space. I marked Ivey's down on atmosphere because there were at most a dozen patrons in the place when I sat down to eat but the noise level inside (because of how small the restaurant is) it sounded like a place with at least twice as many people. Overall not a bad place to eat, and the menu was varied and the food was good, but after a long day of work the atmosphere inside wasn't terribly conducive to unwinding...

We had tried the bistro a few years ago, the food & service were "ok" we tried it one more time after that and it was the same so we stopped going.

We were looking for a place to eat a few months ago, i didnt want to but we decided to try again. It was a night and day diffence! the food was amazing, the service was fatastic. Most recently we have been eating there once a week, the service and food have been great. Im a burger guy, their burger is fantastic, so much so its ruined me for other burgers.
